- I live right next to these tracks...I always hear the horns minutes before I see the train. It is common sense to slow down and stop before crossing any railroad tracks...like previously said we learn that at a small age. Yes the tracks are at an angle but the tracks are free from debris such as trees right at the intersection. I don't think the railroad is at fault on this...I heard the signal for a few minutes and I saw about 10 box cars go past before the train started to stop abruptly...the horn was still blowing at impact and the vibrations alone from the train should have alerted the driver that a train was near.
