- My family and I live very very close to the lake and actually watched the recovery efforts. Having children myself, it was gutwrenching to witness. Kudos to the rescue personnel and my heartfelt condolences to the family. That being said, there are no signs posted regarding swimming. There ARE signs to clean up after your pet and to not feed the geese. Before the renovations took place last year, there were lifeguards and a roped off area. I have walked the lakefront many times and have witnessed swimmers in the lake, so I don't believe that security has their safety as a number one priority. On any given day, you will witness wind surfers on the lake, what about them ? Ultimately it comes down to a mistake I'm sure those involved wish they could correct.
