- I'm sure the railroads would gladly put up the gates and lights, remember that municipalities pay for them. Therefore something else statewide will be cut to increase the budget that it comes out of. Regardless, drivers need to stop at every crossing and look both ways. If you cant see a huge locomotive with ditch lights, head lights, hear the horn or bell, you shouldn't be driving. You can't teach stupid and a car vs a train is equivalent to a car vs a pop can...you're not going to win!

- Missouri at it again! You do realize that the state can't take bids for work on PRIVATE property right?!?! Also, the new retro-reflective tape is very visible during the day/night. You've got to be blind to miss it if you're driving towards it. And you fail to realize that the crossings gates/lights are paid for by the municipalities, not the railroad. The railroad was there first, thus having the right of way.

- What happened was tragic, and I'll be praying for his family. But to ban trains is absolutely asinine! The US economy would absolutely tank, What is your plan for moving all the goods, not to mention the hazardous chemicals that can only be moved by rail. The price of EVERYTHING would skyrocket exponentially. Think a little before posting, and these are not murders, most cases are trespassers on the privately owned property/track. Are you related to Missouri?

- Now dig a little deeper, how many times was the railroad at fault? How many were suicides? And your sucky brakes and no steering argument makes absolutely no sense. Please realize the tracks and property around it are privately owned and pedestrians should stay off of them at all places but crossings and should really be prosecuted for being on them without proper authority.

- Please go in depth in your explanation of behind the curtain, I need a good laugh. And please go into great detail as to where they hide these crew less trains and your "credible" inside sources that are probably watching Thomas the Train and singing along.

- crew less trains?!?!?!?!?! Where do i even begin here? There are not any crew less trains running on any main line tracks. There are remote control units in PRIVATE yards that are manned by a conductor. Locomotives are equipped with an alertor that must be hit by the engineer every few seconds. A loud noise will sound before the train goes into emergency and stops if something were to happen to the crew. Also, as mentioned already, quiet zones are only put in at the request of the municipality.

- Have you lost your mind Missouri?!?!? For one, the railroad is privately owned and was there long before the road, therefore giving them the right of way. 2, crossings are there for a reason, and even without the guards, do you not think 2 75 watt ditch lights and 2 75 watt head lights, a constantly ringing bell and a ridiculously loud air horn arent deterrents?!? And before you say lights go out, track speed is 30 mph if they are out, and if the bell/horn goes out, they must stop at every crossing. You need to sit in a dark prison for talking out of your *ss and not knowing your facts. Your no brakes or steering argument might be the dumbest thing if ever heard, well that along with the air bags and lit up christmas tree comment. are you 7 years old?
