- "A 7th grader is a victim. PERIOD. Whether she consented or not, is not the issue. She is below the age of 14. It's not statutory rape, it's child molestation. Had either one of these men been over the age of 21, it would be a Class A Felony. She was obviously too young to realize the type of idiots she was involved with and her family should have questioned her whereabouts." - I believe you wrote this. How can you blame the system for failing Kuchta and not Nafus? How are her "compulsions" any different from his? Not to be rude, but you sound very hypocritical. They are both criminals who committed the worst types of crime - sexual crimes against children. That being said, Nafus did not tie up his victim, hold her at knife point, sexually assault her, videotape the whole thing, and then invite people over to watch. It amazes me that you can make excuses and minimize this heinous crime because the poor little girl had a rough childhood.

- Ask a heroin addict or some other "hard drug" abuser/addict which drug they started using first, and 99.9% of them will tell you marijuana. If it's legalized, there is a high probability that we will see a dramatic increase in "hard drug" addiction. This will result in more burglaries, robberies, thefts, and other similar crimes that addicts commit to support their habit. The aforementioned will result in more tax dollars being spent on the prosecution of drug related crimes and more people being incarcerated in the already overcrowded jails. In the end, it will cost tax payers much more money to legalize marijuana than to continue to criminalize it.

- Duh! Of course MOST addicts burglarize to support their habit. Did you figure that out all by yourself? Tell me, what good would it do to have her sit in jail for 12 years? There would be no restitution, we as tax payers would be paying to keep her incarcerated, and the girl would not receive ANY treatment, which means she would be using and burglarizing again as soon as she was released. Instead, she will be paying restitution and a monthly fee to the courts, and she will receive substance abuse treatment. It's a no-brainer to giver her drug court because it will teach her how to manage her addiction, which if successful, will help her become a productive member of society AND reduce recidivism.
