  1. Office space at the Ameriplex is going for $14 PSF (that's per square foot.) You do the math.

  2. And I do hope you are voicing your concerns via letter to the NIRPC Commission, your state legislators and the Indiana Department of Transportation. Otherwise, they will sit in this comment section until they rot!

  3. I live and work in that area. As much a I'd like to see a connection like that, I'd much rather see some armtwisting on INDOT and get the Cline Avenue bridge rebuilt. All the time and money that was wasted on fruitless meetings when INDOT had no intention of rebuilding that bridge.

  4. In late 2009, they were at least $34 million in debt, now its over $111 million. As a Porter County resident, I can't see lending Gary any more money. They need to reduce debt, staff and regardless how unpopular, institute a local income tax. Lake County government needs to step up as well.

  5. Sorry, gotta agree with portageman. I'm an ex-smoker, I now have leukemia (probably from the cigarettes) and I must choose another way to support my local veterans because I am barred by my oncologist from frequenting establishments that allow smoking, including the American Legion and the VFW! Go smokefree, build a wall between the bar and the hall or invest in a good exhaust system - and use it!

  7. We should be looking to bring tourism out into the rest of the community as well. Don't we have enough hotels and motels close to the Dunes? Just go to Portage along 249 and Route 20! There's hotels and motels all along the lakeshore - use what you have. You may get so many tourists that you wind up ruining the dunes and all its natural beauty. Look at Mt. Baldy! Portage Lakefront park is a jewel but I've seen "tourists" in March park not along the street but up into the sand areas, ruining the vegetation. I'm a Portage resident but I can no longer enjoy the park because of all the "tourists". There's not enough parking, not enough beach area to accomodate the goers. And let's not even discuss the boaters dotting the vista during the weekends! So, be careful what you wish for - you might get it - AND regret it!

  9. Everyone should be held accountable for their actions. No exceptions. Things you put on social media stay out there forever. Of course, one must blame the parents as well. My kids were expected to behave both in school and socially. if not, they were punished. I raised two A Honor Roll boys who are now productive adults. No drugs, no alcohol, no gangs.
