He cares now because of the election--but ask who disbanded the Wildlife Advisory Board after Jim Biggs left office? John Evans, of course. who has millions from the hospital sale sitting in the bank, earning interest, and yet refuses to spend any money except where convenient(like sewers for South Haven, after years of problems for the residents and no relief). John Evans is only interested in himself and in perpetuating his control over Porter county politics. We need fresh air-we need people in office who are really concerned about residents AND animals.
Listen to Dr. reed and vote for JIm Biggs, professional, compassionate and interested in all residents-not just those who support his policies .
board ran the shelter until about four years ago, euthanizing hundreds of animals yearly with all of the Commissioners tacit approval? It wasn't until Bob Harper became commissioner that this stopped. and guess what? When Bob left, Nancy Adams was put in charge. If it weren"t for Council President Dan Whitten and Council Member Jim Biggs, many more animals would be dead. Evans only responded to the shelter emergency because Whitten and Biggs made it public, and wouldn't let it go away. Where was Larry McAfee then? If it weren't for Dr. Rachel Jones, those 80 cats would be dead, and if it weren't for the present shelter advisory board, more dogs would be dead. Evans only paid for the Shelter Planners report because he was backed into a corner. Had he any real regard for animals, something would have been done a long time ago. Instead, the present shelter director struggles daily with lack of personnel, and still depends on donations from local citizens and vets. Evans seems to think that paying our tax money for consultants to solve HIS problems means the job is as good as done-but there is never any follow through. He cannot be trusted. He has been coroner, deputy coroner and commissioner for years. It's time for him to return and take care of his business-dealing with those who can no longer object to his tactics and his cronyism-those who pass through his hands on their way to their final resting place. Those of us who are living need to vote for someone who knows how to deal the living-with our everyday problems and those of a developing county. Evans and McAfee need to step aside, and let those who are moved by true co cern for all of the county residents take over. You are done!
