  1. No offense to Dr. Doshi, I'm sure she's a fine person but the article lacks some information. Though she's been an anesthesiologist for 25 years there's no mention of how long she's been practicing acupuncture. Does she practice it full-time or just dabble in it? Her "special training" in medical acupunture from UCLA's Helms Medical Institute sounds impressive until you check their website and find out the training is a series of weekend courses for doctors and is only 300 hours long. Compare that to the four years, 3,000 plus hours that a trained acupuncturist licensed in Indiana will get in a medical college devoted to teaching acupuncture. I suggest that if you want acupuncture you check first with the Indiana Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine to find someone with the extensive training and devotion to learn this difficult medical art. Their website is http://www.iaaom.org/IAAOM/Welcome.html.
