Petruch only cares about himself and what is takes to keep his job. He is the only Merrillville Cop to get a raise in pay in the last 7 years. We lost over 15 cops due to the way he ruins the Merrillville Police Department. He makes his own cops buy ammo to qualify with. If officers want a new handgun that works" properly" they have to buy it themselves. Several officers on the department have had guns that continue to misfire or not work at all. Even a new officer at the police academy had a gun that would not fire and he carried that exact same gun on the street for a few weeks. The Merr PD officers are over worked, under paid and way under staffed. And as for "Civil Lawsuits", you need to talk to you Lake County Prosecutors and stop throwing out charges. This only leads to these Law suits. Petruch is lucky the cops haven't vote him out just like Griffith Officers voted their chief out.
