  1. I am happy to see that someone followed up on the outrageous behavior by Soliday. There are however several things that leave you wondering what is really going on.
One thing we did not see was an apology of any kind from Mr. Ed.
We also did not see any kind of response from the commissioners or mayors defending the counties employee.
It makes you wonder if this type of thing goes on all the time and if Mr. Ed has actually had people removed from their jobs because he had a difference of opinion with them. This time he got caught, has it happened before?
I have to remind Mr. Ed that is supposed to be a "representative" Government. He is supposed to be representing what is best for the people in his district which is pretty much Valparaiso since the gerrymandering. He has no constituents in Lake County any longer. So for him to carry water for the Lake County tourism board while threatening our county employee is completely out of whack.
We have all had the displeasure of Mr. Ed's temper. He has threatened to resign several times. Warned people about losing him as a friend. Stormed out of meetings, etc. Just this week Rep Charlie Brown had a run in with him.
"It is vintage Soliday," Brown said. "He's a bully and he feels that no one should have a contrary opinion to him, which is crazy."

Maybe a resignation is in order and Not from Ms. Weimer.

  2. Right on target niki. Convincing a fundy from any religion is tough be it taliban, baptist or anything in between. They all have the same weak argument that has little to due with our constitution or reality.

  3. Congratulations Senator Donnelly! You too have evolved. Anyone with a working cerebral cortex knows this is a civil rights issue. This has already been fought and won it's just a few neanderthals wont let it die. Of course this is the same group that proudly display the stars and bars and may have a white pointy hat in their closet.

  4. Thank you for shedding a little light on this issue. I would like to see total disclosure on the expenses.

  5. If there is a need let a private industry put it in. This type of speculation is not for the county to pay for.
I know the hospital money is burning a hole in the pockets of the county leaders but come on! .A hokey rink? Is that what NWI is known for? Hockey? Why not an African safari adventure?
The last word I heard was we are having a heck of a time just keeping up on the aging buildings we own now.

  8. 'But my duty as Indiana Attorney General is to represent our state and to uphold and defend our state statutes when challenged, not to represent my personal views or what polls suggest is popular opinion."
    What a load of BS!
As an elected republican official that is in continual reelection mode everything you say or do is to appeal to your base. Just as this opinion piece shows.
The best interest of the state of Indiana and ALL of it's citizens ranks somewhere near the bottom of the list when it comes to vetting your opinion on what you will and or not defend.
Get off your holier than thou attitude.

  9. Nothing would surprise me. Soliday has all the cards and a perfect example of how to do it with Daniels. Keep your friends on the board, do away with any requirements for Supt. pull oversight away from County Council. VIOLA! You got a job.
Ed voted for the bill to give oversight to the council in the first place. When he found out they were actually going to look at it he wanted to change the law.
The DLGF ruled the it is the job of the County Council for the oversight.
He also voted to strip the requirements it takes to be supt of schools.
Please tell me how either of these two actions benefits his constituents..

  10. You may think I am in la la land, just wait. Who would have thought ol mitch was lining up the board at Purdue in 2010 so he could get himself to the Presidents job in 2012.?
Soliday is hardly a statesman. This is the same guy that just a week ago was trying to get on of our county employees fired because they had a difference of opinion. His either her or me statement was not reported in this paper.

Soliday is hardly as well loved as you think. He bare;y squeaked a win against a candidate that only spent $6000.00 on his campaign.
I haven't seen Soliday accomplish anything for his constituents. Which is pretty much Valpo since the gerrymandering. .
