  3. You would think the would consult someone in their HR office before pulling a stunt like this. My wife works in HR, after I showed her this she just nodded her head and said law suit. No wonder northwest Indiana is the laughing stock of the state.

  4. Unfortunately the decay of our society reaches all communities. Our son is a police officer. The statement "your dammed if you do, your dammed if you don't" is so true. I would have him err on the side of being safe. Rather than take a chance. Read the police reports look at what is happening in the outer reaches of Porter and Lake counties. Just because you are out in the sticks does not mean crime will not be there, If you want to live on the top of a mountain or deep in the back woods go for it. But if you plan on living in or around a rather large city or town be prepared, crime is going to occur.

  6. Yep, was 53 when I lost my job in 09, was out of work for one whole year. Lost all of our savings, had to cash in a good chunk of my retirement. We are OK now but believe it or not we have not fully recovered. For hard working honest people those UI benefits are needed. Still can't believe we made it. but some how we did.

  8. We have lived in Portage for 15 years. I think the Portage police are doing a good job. Has crime increased in Portage, for sure just like in any city, or town across the country. In my opinion the violent crimes commited in Portage are filtering in from other cities. How are the police to stop that. Now a days no matter where you go, you must be aware of your surroundings.
