- Because it was almost 8 a.m. and not 3 or 4 a.m. I'm betting this is a diabetic sugar issue. People under this condition don't realize what is happening. If the officer really did not smell alcohol or see empties in the car, kudos to him for following the law. If he let him go because of his political position, then shame on him. Most cops are honest men doing a tough job.

- The prisoner climbed from the back seat to the front seat. Why do Gary police cars not have cages between the front and back seats for officer safety. Most departments went to that in the 1980's. Not only did he get out of the car, but he managed to get into the apartment complex without one of our finest seeing him. Classic. How many of the responding officers are actually trained policeman and how many are pretend auxillary officers that are friends of some past mayors.

- No school district this size has 4 principals for middle school and high school combined. Does Union also need an assistant superintendant. By combining the assistant high school principal and athletic director job (he is already useless), and eliminating the assistant middle school principal job, the school district would save roughly $200k a year. Then eliminate the assistant superintendant and you get another $100k a year. That is 300k plus a year saved and no programs are cut. 10 years 3million saved. The childish plan to threaten to cut sports or extracurriculars (band and theatre) to scare people into voting for tax was offensive. Each team already sells raffle tickets, and fund raises etc... to pay for their sport. Each family could donate $20 a season and recover the remaining costs. Clean your house Mr. Hunter, then ask for help.

- I'm not from the area in question, but I feel for everybody there. I lived in a great community in Portage and this is exactly how section 8 apartments were thrown down our throats 15 years ago. I cannot sell my house now because it is worth half of what it was worth then. I think this kind of political bullying should meet resistance. If everybody in Washington Twp never shops Wiseway again, and they convince two other people to do the same, it at least sends a message. The Wies family is too rich too be hurt financially; however if they had to close or store or two maybe they would at least be ashamed. Sorry again

- This is my problem with Indiana High School Sports. If this young man's parents feel it is best for him to go to Noll (academically or athletically), then why does the IHSAA have a say. Parents should raise their kids as they see fit. When football players transfer in Texas they write on the reason as "coach and program stinks." If you want to keep kids at your school, get better in school and on the court or field. Competition is American. Getter Better or Get out!

- Maybe you don't follow football in the region. Since Griffith weakened and then moved to 4A several years ago, Class 2A has been way stronger than 3A. Teams like Renselear and Wheeler in 2006 to 2010 would have crushed the 9er's. Not to mention programs like Lewis Cass and FW Luers regularly dominate 4A and 5A programs that are better than any in the Region, and surely would have ended any success you had. Be proud of the boys playing now, not jealous.

- While 1000 good police candidates were rejected in the 90's and early 2000's, Gary stayed with the "Gary hires Gary people" philosophy. There are probably very good officers on the force, but Gary PD is the joke of the nation. 30 years of corruption in law enforcement, politics, and schools. Indiana don't want ya, but Chicago won't take ya.
