  1. As someone with a disability, I can tell you we are the last minority! We are continually discriminated against, ridiculed, and put down. Sad thing is, able-bodied people don't give a d%&*!

  2. True. But the good ones are usually Medicare/private pay. It's the whole system. Someone else has total control over you. I liken it to being in prison except we didn't do anything wrong to get there except become disabled or get old.

  3. The worker didn't care. Common sense states that when you have a nonresponsive client you test the water BEFORE putting the client in the tub like you would for an infant. Besides, water hot enough to cause 3rd degree burns is going to produce steam! Hello!

  4. As one who lived in nursing homes for 11 1/2 years before getting out this kind of stuff, and worse, happens there. There needs to be some recourse for those of us who require 24-hour or daily care. The only solution we're provided is to switch agencies. Trust and believe me when I tell you nursing homes are NOT the answer!

  6. You have good thoughts. However, PACE charges $1.75 a ride, $0.85 for persons with disabilities. CTA charges $2.25 cash, $2.00 with a fare card $2.25 for trains.
