  1. I moved to the area a half dozen years ago for the schools as well as the property values and low property taxes, especially compared to Illinois. In the meantime there has been a 50% increase in IL income tax as well as property tax increases there, while IN has been relatively stable. So while I agree that in almost every government agency there is bloat and waste, compared to our IL neighbors we are well managed. I would rather not pay additional $s but when you look at the per student funding that Munster gets I'm not sure how you keep the quality without an increase in funding. My kid will be out of school in a couple years so this will only effect them slightly but without the Munster school reputation my house (my biggest investment) will not appreciate the way it could. I want to see exactly what these extra $s will be spent on, however the fact Munster has one of the lowest funding per student in the state does make me think it might be worthwhile. The comments about more state funding for Munster and how the allocation isn't fair might be true, however it is unlikely to change so not really a viable option.

New Charges Against Terry Gaouette Regarding Milwaukee Public Museum
    Posted on October 4th, 2007

Today, two new charges were filed against the former CFO of the Milwaukee Public Museum. Terry Gaouette was originally charged with four felonies, including one count of theft by officer and three counts of fraudulent writings. The new misdemeanor charges relate to making false or fraudulent reports as a certified public accountant.

The criminal charges came as a result of museum executives improperly spending the organization’s endowment funds, and then covering up that spending by making false reports to the museum’s Board of Directors.

    Gauoette’s defense?

    “They did it too!”

His lawyer says that others were involved, while only Gauoette is being charged. And of course, the situation is just referred to as a problem with fund-raising and budgeting.

  3. If this is the Terry Gaouette that was the former CFO of the Milwaukee Museum, he was charged with 4 felonies: http://www.jsonline.com/news/milwaukee/29189214.html

He later admitted to a misdemeanor: http://www.todaystmj4.com/news/local/45595977.html?page=1

All for business development but if it is the same guy it sounds like he has had a lot of trouble in his past.
