"Why don't health workers get all the shots kids do?"
"I read with interest Monday's front-page article that stated UW Health is requiring employees to get flu shots. While this seems like a good first step, why aren't all vaccines required for all health care workers?
Our children are required to get multiple doses of vaccines to attend school and day care. A lot of these new life saving vaccines were not available when these adult workers were children. We are told by our health care providers that all these vaccines are safe and needed to keep our children healthy.
Shouldn't doctors and their staffs, especially pediatricians who see sick kids all day, be required to get every single shot they say our children need? Wouldn't this be a perfect way for the people who promote, administer, mandate and defend vaccine safety to set a good example for the rest of the community?
Just like Dr. Nasia Safdar from the article says, "Why be satisfied with anything less than the ideal?"
