I believe you are correct, if they become part of the class action, they can't go with a personal claim as well. But best wait for an attorney to correct me. :)

Enough with the class action suits, geez, BP already agreed to pay for repairs what more do these lawyers expect? Oh wait, thats right, more money for THEM! If you can't PROVE you bought gas on that day and PROVE your car didn't run and you went to a garage that day, than you should be reinbursed, if you can't, too bad. This is going to do nothing but bring out all the greedy people with their hands out expecting a "piece of the pie". Well, the only ones getting rich folks are the attorneys.
