J Bird, cell phones in schools are a matter of student safety. I would rather my child have the ability to call for help if something were to happen than to be without a phone.

Rumor has it, Purdue University will be privatized by 2020. With Daniels in office now, I think this will be even sooner.

Unfortunately, all of the new strip malls and restaurants that are going up North of Ridge in Munster is a huge attractor of gangs and thugs that come from Hammond and Illinois. The whole shopping center where Target (I'm willing to bet) is 80% Illinois and Hammond traffic. It's a garbage area if you ask me, and this story doesn't surprise me.

@People_Please - what do you want to change for the children or how can we help them? Munster is one of the top performing school corporations in the state, and they continue to remain successful with less and less funding each year.

A new school board cannot pull money out of the behinds. Face it, there is a lot of overhead in running a school district, and I feel a new school board has the potential to ruin what Munster Schools have worked so hard for.

@CommonSense You have not established any credibility whatsoever that allows you to make assumptions on how a school is actually run. I'm in favor of eliminating the superintendents position, but that's it. Principals, secretaries, Asst. Principals are all needed to keep a school running.
