- So Prochno killed her? No gun associated with Prochno "went missing", had no motive (she was neither raped nor robbed), and then he pinned it on Dustin (whom Prochno did not know and in turn did not know that she and Dustin had any connection). I understand the defense strategy of trying to throw doubt in the minds of the jurors. However, they would have been better served by demonstrating that many people had access to the gun and there were people jealous of Amanda who may have had motive. However, trying to pin it specifically to Prochno was just plain stupid. And the whole.....the prosecution would not have known about the gun had the father not told them... is also bogus....Dustin's friends talked about Dustin handling the gun in their presence. The father knew that, so he threw out the preemptive disclosure before the prosecution made the discovery.

- I know it's not a popular view but I think he did it but didn't mean to kill her. Either he was playing around with the gun as he had done in the past and it went off or he was trying to scare her but had no intent to kill her. I think both voices were probably Dustin's as he was hoping against hope that she would get up. Then I think he panicked and started covering it up. I think the father came into the picture after the fact and helped him and that's why he wouldn't let the cops in without a warrant as they were still cleaning up whatever evidence there was and disposing of the gun. I think probably their first attorney is gone because he wanted them to admit the crime and plead to a lesser crime like manslaughter and get less time. I think that probably wasn't acceptable to the McCowans because they had all along been telling friends and family that he didn't do it and the father may have some culpability as well and he would be in jeopardy of being brought up on charges as well. They thought Dustin would get off free and clear. I wish they would have come clean from the start and admitted he killed her, it was an accident, let the Bachs know what happened and let them know how sorry they were. He would have done time, but to a lesser extent. I don't think the father did the kid any favors. Even if Dustin would have initially tried to cover it up, once the father discovered what happened, he should have called the police, told them what happened, told them that Dustin panicked and started to cover it up until the father got home and told Dustin they were going to do the right thing. Amanda would still be dead and it would still be an unbelievable tragedy and maybe the Bachs wouldn't forgive him, but don't add to their misery by dragging them through this whole fiasco of covering it up and the aftermath that ensued. They didn't deserve that. They should have manned up regardless of the consequences. In the end it turned out worse for Dustin and worse for her family and friends.

- The defense is trying to demonstrate that it could have been someone else other than the defendant who committed the murder, thus putting doubt in the jurors' minds.

- Have jurors started deliberating yet? Does anyone know? Why is everyone still arguing....it's in the hands of the jury now. Let's wait for their verdict then the arguing can commence again.

- I'm curious....since the charge is murder....what if the jury thinks he did it but it was an accident that was then covered up, isn't that manslaughter? Can the jury still convict but advise the lesser charge? I'm just asking....please don't jump all over about how this was intentional, because my question is....what if the jury doesn't perceive it was intentional. what then?

- I pray this jury is comprised of reasonable people who understand reasonable doubt. Reasonable does not mean beyond a shadow of a doubt. Anyone can poke holes into any prosecution, but what does a reasonable person conclude is where this will lie. I pray for Amanda's family. I can't imagine their anguish given the anguish on this board and most people don't know them personally.

- I have not been following this as closely as the rest of you, so forgive me for asking elementary questions. It sounds like the injuries were pretty substantial. Wouldn't there be a lot of blood evidence in the house? One couldn't completely clean something like that in such a short time, could they? Also, could the voice have been Amanda's saying....I can't believe this is happening? Or were the injuries too severe for here to speak? Also, what is the charge, exactly? Manslaughter, murder 1? Thank you.
