- I'm a few days late to the party on this discussion, but I have to get my two cents in anyway. How can this be looked at as a positive for Indiana? It is understandable to want flexibility when it comes to hiring candidates. However, being knowledgeable about a subject does not qualify one to teach it to others. Everyone learns differently and teachers have training to learn how to adapt to that. Now a person without that training will have to try and get information to a group of students and there is a good chance the message will get lost in translation. Unfortunately, they will not have the training to figure out how to work around the issue. Another thing to keep in mind is these are middle and high school aged children. The emotional and psychological issues they deal with can be staggering. Now people with little to no background in child psychology can be put in the classroom and told, "Best of luck!"
