As a resident of Pine Creek this new apartment development will affect my family profoundly. Pine Creek is a fairly young subdivison not quite 10 years old. When we bought and built our homes, the adjoining parcel of land was zoned Residential. How many of us would have chosen this subdivision had we known the city would throw us under the bus and approve UR?? Not many I can assure you. I have looked at the Prairie Point apartments Mr. Weiss has built in Merrillville and I do not consider them High End or Luxury. The pictures online do not show high end finishes such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, wood flooring, and high end cabinetry. That is why I am concerned with the High End or Luxury apartments they want to build by me. We may be annexed with city services, but we have NO SAY on rezoning issues!! I can say I feel Mayor Costas and his cronies had tied this neat little package with a pretty bow before it was even presented for approval. I hope and pray the members of the City Council will think long and hard, and Independently before this proposal comes before them next week. Change needs to be good for the community and the environment. This is neither.
