Ordinary Joe

  1. This just rips my heart out. Sometimes Life can be so unfair...

  2. I wonder, is he related to Shrek?

  3. Please don't dignify this moron's statements with a reply. If Honeybee hasn't figured it out by now, it's not going to happen. Our efforts would be better spent (and probably more successful) trying to stop dogs from barking, squirrels from climbing trees, and birds from flying.
March 28, 2013 7:00 pm on Dustin McCowan sentenced to 60 years in murder of Amanda Bach
  4. I saw nothing in this story (on which you have chosen to comment) regarding "police brutality" or the use of "excessive force". Do you equate a "show of force" with excessive force (not the same thing)? Do you have other, privileged, inside, information about this situation to warrant your outrage? Lastly, I would be interested to hear where you obtained your extensive knowledge about SWAT and their training?
March 27, 2013 10:45 am on Two men transported to hospital after Portage stabbing
  5. While I do think they pull the SWAT trigger a little too often, I think it is unfair to apply your "facts", as they are now becoming known, to the moments that this situation was unfolding. How were the police to know that the guy did not run into someone else's home and take them hostage or that he gained access to a gun in that home?
Publicly, it seems to be a lose-lose situation for the police these days. If cops get killed, people criticize them for being stupid and not calling in SWAT or we criticize them for using SWAT when we find out, later, that they were not needed.
If you found yourself and/or family in a potentially life-threatening situation at the hands of some bad guy(s), what kind of response would you want? 1-2 cops or an entire army? I say better safe than sorry.

  6. Most of the "trash" blows in from the west.

  7. Punkin - 1.) Yes I do live in the affected area; 2.) Yes, I do have grandchildren; and 3.) I didn't call any children "P%$$IES", I said that "we as a society" were becoming such. For what it's worth, I wasn't b#tching but making an observation. Sorry you can't tell the difference.

  8. My thoughts, exactly. Unbelievable. We as a society are becoming total P%$$IES.

  9. Most likely it was her ambulance-chasing lawyer who set the dollar amount of the lawsuit.
What's his take - 30%? The authorities should apologize for their mistake, give her $5000 for her inconvenience, embarrassment and humiliation and exercise better care in the future. $700K is a joke and hard to take seriously. I've seen people who were wrongly CONVICTED, spent time in prison and then later freed after their innocence was proven, get less money than she wants.

  10. He didn't do it? Do you know this for a fact? If so, you either A) committed the crime; B) witnessed the crime and therefore know who the real murderer is; C) were otherwise involved; or D) you are a priest and the real murderer confessed to you.
Obviously, you did not share your "inside" information with the Defense team. Now your boy is on the hook and will rot in prison. When they go after his father, next, perhaps they can share a cell together. Guess we know where the family reunions will be held in the future.
