  1. In military terms this would be called collateral damage. Collateral damage is acceptable provided it remains mostly hidden, involves minimal people, and will advance the overall mission.
Closing your roads, dividing your farms, bringing road noise and pollution, and advancing urban sprawl is just one of those things you will need to accept in order to advance the agenda of the politicians and the masses of northern Lake County.
You see, those folks could care less what happens to you, your families and your lifestyle.

  2. Great idea? Let’s go all the way and transfer every newly born child directly to government sponsored “educational” programs. Seems that is the direction we are headed. Parents shouldn’t be left with the responsibility for their children’s education or upbringing. Let’s indoctrinate them all at the earliest age. Just think how many new jobs would be created.

  3. "Much farmland sits idle now, so that is a lame excuse"
Facts buddy, show us where you get your facts. Corn and soy bean prices are at an all time high, no farmer lets land sit idle unless it is unfarmable. Very little, almost no land in the proposed route is unfarmable.
    Show us your facts.

  4. to the uneducated one who always has a negative opinion on nearly every newspaper article:
    1) "the most mismanaged war in American history" - have you totally forgotten democrat Lyndon Johnson who started the Vietnam war with an absolute lie claiming the North Viet navy fired on one of our ships. Got a declaration of war and then micro managed the absolute worst debacle in our military's history? Left in total disgrace while 55,000 of our soldiers were killed. 55,000 needless deaths. One of your heroes I'm sure.

    2) "deny relief funds to victims of superstorm Sandy" - ok maybe the civil government needs some help with infrastructure, however why didn't those "victims" have insurance to cover their own losses? Oh yeah, the government owes me attitude. Wa wa wa.

  5. Some writers on this forum will forever continue to say it is Bush's fault. The great one can't possibly have any connection to the failed last four years. He tried so so hard and those nasty Republicans just would not cooperate. No doubt the three stooges - Reed, Pelosi, and Obozo are the real problem.

  6. Are you the same Donnnelly who while the second district representative was almost always too busy to answer my letters, e-mails, and actual phone calls to your DC office? When you (your staff) did actually answer a query, it was always just jibber jabber, and totally off the subject, rarely if ever addressing my concerns.
Now you “look forward to bringing ‘my’ voice to the US Senate”, really? If you truly want to bring bipartisan Hoosier common sense to the U.S. Senate, you will have to change your ways. Please stop being in lock step with your “party” and try being bipartisian for a change. After all, the voters in Indiana did endorse Romney for President.
November 22, 2012 8:39 am on Thank you for opportunity to be your next senator
  7. As the current Second District Representative, Donnelly is a career politician and would love to continue living the high and mighty life in DC. This man was terrified after his district was reorganized and thought he might actually need to find a real job after January 2013, but alas the Demo Party has come to his rescue.

I personally have written letters, sent e-mails, and actually phoned his DC office hoping to get a response from him. I had listed my concerns about local and national issues, even offering some broad suggestions. But unfortunately, Donnelly rarely ever responded to my communications and when he did, those responses did not address a single issue I raised.

So if Donnelly was so occupied with other “vital” things that he could not answer a voter from his Second District, how can anyone expect him to have any concern for any voter if he wants to represent the entire State of Indiana as Senator?

Is this the kind of politician you would want to address your concerns?

  8. You are absolutely correct. We certainly do not need good employment locally. A vast vacationland for the Chicago crowd is the best use of our lakefront. Bring them on, choke our roads and bow to the City to the west. Save the dunes has done a terrific job of grabbing homes and privately owned real estate, they should be so proud.
