The focus needs to be on criminals and gangs, NOT law abiding citizens. It's easy to be a Tom Dart, Gary McCarthy or Rahm Emmanuel and go after the law abiding gun owners, gun shows and gun manufactures in the guise of addressing crime. They can use their bully pulpit position and sound like they're taking some kind action, but the lazy and meaningless action they're taking is against law abiding people. They know the law abiding don't fight back lawlessly and the shallow thinkers feel some satisfaction after hearing the verbal spew.
They're woefully inadequate to address the real criminal element and the havoc they spread among the innocent, which more of is coming to us in the near future.
That twisted liberal spew the Tribune was printing made it such a great read I just had to cancel my subscription, like everyone else.
Rich James first Times piece isn't even worth comment.
And yes, there were a few verbally unruly people in the last meeting but really, having what looked like an entire VPD patrol shift in that room lined up along the walls? What country is this again?
Attorney Schaefer and the citizens who spoke presented a very compelling fact based case for not approving this zoning request. If the Costas administration ignores all logic, fact and approves this, it certainly won't be because of lack of effort by attorney Schaefer and the citizens in uncovering this fiasco.
The Costas administration is no friend of rural living, that just gets in the way of city growth. The greater the population density the better for this administration, along with its desire for public transportation and to be like Gary of long ago.
So is this an incestuous mix of governance and personal business interests?
And what was with Al Shields yes vote at the end of that meeting? He looks right towards a group of seriously agitated people (and rightfully so), leans into the mic for his yes vote while staring at them... wow. Intentionally further agitating an already worked up group of people? That's a foolish and immature person, and just another example of the city's attitude towards WT.
