- Maybe this is a case where while the sheriff is transporting these two to their first court appearance the car's steering accidentally goes out and it flies over a bridge into a river - and by shear coincidence the driver happened to be wearing a snorkel and wet suit and escaped unharmed...but unfortunately the passengers...well, not so lucky.

- LOL - robbing an ice cream store at 9 a.m. In February. Idiots. Probably should have fled with a pocket full of sprinkles and crushed Snickers - would be worth more than what they probably got. Once they're caught - and the will be caught, no one that stupid can mastermind their way out of this - they should get an extra 3 years for just being dumb.

- We used to sneak into the Y&W all the time as teens. Sometimes we'd have people in the trunk, or hidden under blankets on the floor board - or the best is when we tried to drive in reverse through the exit - as if anyone wouldn't notice we were entering and not leaving. The owner busted us on that one and made us get into line to pay like everyone else. Jees - we could have had six felons that night - four in the car and two in the trunk. Cripes - kick 'em out and if you want to play hardball tell them they're banned from the theater forever (you can even take their picture and tell 'em you're hanging it up at the front). Felony arrest though??? Seriously.

- I don't what this title "Resource Officer" is supposed to mean anyway. I have no problem with police - on or off duty (because it really makes no difference) - being present in a school. However, that role needs to be clearly defined. I don't want the Resource Officer being involved in any of my kids' discipline issues; that is between the kid and the school. You are undermining the authority of the school in that instance and turning power over to the police - that's a very dangerous precedent. A kid bringing a gun or machete or drugs to school is NOT a discipline problem - that's a criminal offense and one that should be addressed by the resource officer. But two kids fighting in gym class or another student cursing at a teacher is a discipline issue and one that the school should address through its appropriate due process. I've always had a problem with illegal searches without cause for anyone, minor or otherwise. Just because you're a minor and in school you are still afforded the rights of the Fourth Amendment. School violence is a very real problem, but lets not trample the basic rights and protections of everyone in a rush to deal with the issue.

- I'd bet one of the big problems with Silhavy/Rt 2 is allowing cars heading southbound through the intersection on Silhavy to turn left into Aldi's/Best Buy. That turn is way too close to the intersection and there is no middle turn lane there - and with the northbound traffic often speeding up to catch the light, it is a dangerous mix. Route people down to the stoplight at Menards and only allow northbound drivers to enter on the Aldi drive, and only allow right turns out of it.

People of Gary...you don't have to take this b.s. anymore. Stand up. Put an end to this. Demand better. $90,000 for six months??? Demand that your schools be accountable and that your administrators aren't just lining their pockets with Title I and Title II funds.

- No - It's worked everywhere it's been implemented. Check out the World Health Organization on the numbers. We spend the most - by far - on healthcare, yet barely crack the top 40 in terms of quality and outcomes. America stands alone among developed countries in terms of not offering national healthcare. Our masters, the insurance industry, forbids it and people like BillyBob toil in their masters chambers by spreading misinformation and lies so that the insurance companies can keep their riches. Go to any city in the USA - pick one - and go look at the names on the tops of some of the tallest buildings. Just like the casinos in Las Vegas, they ain't built on winners. They're built on losers - and they count on us losing all our money to them. Healthcare is not a commodity that the private sector can barter and trade and ride the waves of supply and demand. The demand will ALWAYS be high and supply will ALWAYS be limited - especially as long as the private sector controls it.

- Playing politics at the expense of access to healthcare for hundreds of thousands of people. I urge everyone in Indiana to watch closely what happens in Michigan and Illinois, two states that were wise enough to take the Federal dollars to expand - people there will have access to healthcare while Hoosiers continue to flood ERs, or not seek healthcare at all until its too late and end up costing all of us millions more in chronic care. Millions more than expansion will ever cost. Good start, Gov'nah. Very myopic thinking.
