- I go to Porter Beach every summer. It's a pretty nice place if you don't mind being constantly harassed by the locals. People yelling and trying to chase innocent people off of the public beach telling them it belongs to them only. The crazy old man at the corner with a fake badge and gun telling people he owns everything. I know the law and they are absolutely wrong. They, want to keep the public property as their private yards and threaten anyone who won't leave. I've seen the park rangers, dnr cops and porter cops tell these morons to leave people alone but they just won't quit. Elka Nelson has even threatened to have innocent families arrested for using the public beach. Porter needs to provide things for people using the beach and make some money for the town to boot instead of trying to run everyone off. It just gives our town a bad image.
