- Amen MrsTeacher! I am not a teacher but I am a professional who also gets evaluated in my job. I do agree with teacher evaluations as long as they get evaluated fairly. Everyone seems to think that teachers are the only ones that influence kids learning and ultimately are the ones that get blamed if they don't pass the state mandated tests. There are several problems with this way of thinking. The first and most important problem is, parents have as much or more influence on the kids than the teachers. There is nothing wrong with the public education system except everyone wanting everything for nothing. There are parents out there that don't want to do their part to help their kids succeed. It is easier to blame the teacher. Secondly school districts jump on every state program that will give them money to teach the way they say to teach and then when the program doesn't work they blame the teacher. I could go on and on.
