- Lilly, thank you for your comment. I didn't know Mr. Gerbauer, but your information is heart wrenching and I have tears and want to throw-up that he yelled for help. Mr. Hatfield murdered this man when he didn't stay to help. I am FURIOUS. I do feel sorry for the Hatfield spouse and especially his children. They have to go to school each day knowing what their father did. Other children can be heartless, When someone like Mr. Hatfield makes a poor choice, his family unfortunately suffers to.

- In Illinois, there is a steep fine and a prison term for killing a highway worker. I hope Indiana courts don't let Bustos out early because of hardship and then threaten that if he doesn't get out early he will become a repeat offender. He should have thought about that before driving drunk and killing Mr. Sadler. The Sadler Family will never have the opportunity to have him come home again.

- This article was written by The Times Staff. How many people participated in constructing the headline? No one noticed that "DEALER" was spelled "DEADLER". I know many a first grader that can spell that word and don't get paid for getting it right. I've never read a newspaper that has so many words spelled wrong. Yet they pride themselves as being just as good as the Chicago Tribune. Your kidding me, right?

- I wholeheartedly agree with what the family is doing. First of all; there is speculation that Mr. DUI was doing around 100 m.p.h. when he hit the MOVING van. Went to a friends house. The friend did some investigating (because of the hour of day) and called police. He made no attempt to get poor Mr. Gerbauer out of his burning van. Drive along 231 just past Parrish where the new building and guardrails are and you can see the charred roadway, one from the van and one from the Camaro. It's totally sickening to see and know what tragically happened. I haven't heard from Mr. DUI that there is remorse or that he is on suicide watch for what he did to this poor man. How could this coward not call for help or make an attempt to rescue Mr. Gerbauer from a fiery death. Oh I forgot Mr. HATFIELD was DRUNK. I hope that the Gerbauer Family gets what they ask for by the courts and that Mr. HATFIELD goes away for a LONG, LONG time. I am extremely angry with DRUNK DRIVERS on our expressways, going the wrong way killing innocent people, while they survive to possibly do it again. It is extremely difficult when I pass they area every single day. I realize none of this will bring Mr. Gerbauer back; but his family needs to do what they have to do.

- I to remember that terrible event! I was 20 years old and scared to death when they published the list of those killed as I had high school classmates who were student at South Chicago Hospital's School of Nursing. Fortunately none of them perished at the hand of that animal. A few are buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City near my grandparents. May they forever rest in peace knowing Richard Speck was caught and eventually died.
