- I have worked for the county for over 10 years. As a supervisor of part time employees I have a high turn over rate. They will stay for 6-12 months but move on for better pay and benefits. I don't blame them, how do you survive on $8.50 an hour? When I hire them I know they won't be with me long. I ask myself every day why I work 80-100 hours a pay period and get paid for 70 with no OT or compensation. ( I get comp time but if I use it I will just get that much farther behind). I guess I love my job and enjoy what I do (or flat out dumb), Do I look to leave the county for a better paying job? Heck yes I do. Hard to have a family on 30K a year.
