The cop had no reason to stick her rear end out on half of a lane! Add to the fact that she was off duty and should have called for backup makes her negligible.
However, if that drunk from Gary would have caused a major pileup, then everyone would be crying foul saying why didn't this off duty officer pull this guy over if she saw him swerving. If the cop never pulls this guy over, we might not know the details of the situation, but the cop would deal with that fact the rest of her life. She did her job and followed protocol.
A man is battling his life now because of this cop car sticking out. The protocol needs to change which is the crux of this situation. I'm positive most of you have worked jobs where you felt a certain rule you had to follow was stupid or did not make sense business wise or safety wise, this is the same situation for the cop.
Just don't forget that a stupid drunk started this whole ordeal. I was one of those drivers who was on the expressway going to a business meeting. Even though I was traveling in the opposite direction of the accident, there were so many cars and trucks that slowed down in my lanes that I thought there was an accident. Everyone was impacted by a drunk and a cop who was doing her job. One can even say that the semi was at fault as well for not paying attention to the flashing lights. We will not know the facts of what the semi driver was doing unless his lives to tell his story.
CHAIN REACTION!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know who thinks Lake Central is a powerhouse, but they are completely below average for having that large of a talent pool. Valpo would beat the snot out of them in a majority of sports any year they play them!
Now the cocaine, that will be a tough one to argue. It has no medicinal purposes and saying it was a friend's who left it there, will not hold water unless he has a roommate.
I would assume he may try to get the warrant thrown out for the initial search. If he can succeed at that, then everything that was confiscated will be considered "fruit from the poisoned tree" and the judge will have to throw out the entire case regardless of what they found.
He could argue that the landlord had to legal reason to just barge into the residence without him being present. My father owns properties and he will never go into the property without his tenants being present.
Regardless, it was stupid for this guy to be so arrogant that he thought he could leave drugs laying out. I'm sure he expected to have reasonable privacy and not have his landlord come into his place when he wasn't there. Unless he forgot the landlord was coming by, he may get to fight that as well,
Just remember this. The guy has cancer. I'm sure most of you would take the drugs he is taking if a doctor recommended for you to take them legally. Put yourself in his shoes. And most importantly he is innocent until proven guilty. This will not be as easy a case to prove as you may think due to the numerous arguments and legalities I provided above and more!
Please don't mistake this for me condoning his behavior. But since this is The Times, we do not know the entire story!
"Police said they also found a multi-colored smoking pipe in the apartment and a collection of painkillers, amphetamines and anti-anxiety pills in Pilipovich's red 2000 Pontiac Trans Am car."
He was carrying painkillers and anti anxiety drugs probably from his cancer and previous psychological problems he had.
Who in Illinois is scratching the back of the EPA to get ALL of the funds and stiff NWI? Either NWI is a part of the poor air quality region and gets a part of the money for this project or the EPA takes away the non attainment status and allows for less stringent air quality measures. ITS THAT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!
