  1. Ok people, here is the deal. Everyone on this post forgets that this whole incident was started by an idiot driving drunk who was from Gary. There were too many things that were connected to this incident. If the idiot doesn't drive drunk, the cop does not pull him over. If the cop doesn't pull this guy over inappropriately, then there is no accident with the semi trucks.

The cop had no reason to stick her rear end out on half of a lane! Add to the fact that she was off duty and should have called for backup makes her negligible.

However, if that drunk from Gary would have caused a major pileup, then everyone would be crying foul saying why didn't this off duty officer pull this guy over if she saw him swerving. If the cop never pulls this guy over, we might not know the details of the situation, but the cop would deal with that fact the rest of her life. She did her job and followed protocol.

A man is battling his life now because of this cop car sticking out. The protocol needs to change which is the crux of this situation. I'm positive most of you have worked jobs where you felt a certain rule you had to follow was stupid or did not make sense business wise or safety wise, this is the same situation for the cop.

Just don't forget that a stupid drunk started this whole ordeal. I was one of those drivers who was on the expressway going to a business meeting. Even though I was traveling in the opposite direction of the accident, there were so many cars and trucks that slowed down in my lanes that I thought there was an accident. Everyone was impacted by a drunk and a cop who was doing her job. One can even say that the semi was at fault as well for not paying attention to the flashing lights. We will not know the facts of what the semi driver was doing unless his lives to tell his story.

    CHAIN REACTION!!!!!!!!!!

  3. No what's sad is that there are 3 towns representing Lake Central and they suck in most all sports. They might have won a few games in baseball, soccer, and softball, but their basketball team just won its first DAC conference championship ever!

I don't know who thinks Lake Central is a powerhouse, but they are completely below average for having that large of a talent pool. Valpo would beat the snot out of them in a majority of sports any year they play them!

  5. Now now people. Let's not jump to conclusions before he is given a chance to present his defense. Surely the cancer will have contributed to his marijuana possessions as well as the steroid component that was found. He also had prescription drugs as well which would probably be thrown out as long as he can provide evidence that he has a prescription for those.
Now the cocaine, that will be a tough one to argue. It has no medicinal purposes and saying it was a friend's who left it there, will not hold water unless he has a roommate.

I would assume he may try to get the warrant thrown out for the initial search. If he can succeed at that, then everything that was confiscated will be considered "fruit from the poisoned tree" and the judge will have to throw out the entire case regardless of what they found.

He could argue that the landlord had to legal reason to just barge into the residence without him being present. My father owns properties and he will never go into the property without his tenants being present.

Regardless, it was stupid for this guy to be so arrogant that he thought he could leave drugs laying out. I'm sure he expected to have reasonable privacy and not have his landlord come into his place when he wasn't there. Unless he forgot the landlord was coming by, he may get to fight that as well,

Just remember this. The guy has cancer. I'm sure most of you would take the drugs he is taking if a doctor recommended for you to take them legally. Put yourself in his shoes. And most importantly he is innocent until proven guilty. This will not be as easy a case to prove as you may think due to the numerous arguments and legalities I provided above and more!

Please don't mistake this for me condoning his behavior. But since this is The Times, we do not know the entire story!

  6. Yes it does mention he was arrested for prescription drugs.

"Police said they also found a multi-colored smoking pipe in the apartment and a collection of painkillers, amphetamines and anti-anxiety pills in Pilipovich's red 2000 Pontiac Trans Am car."

He was carrying painkillers and anti anxiety drugs probably from his cancer and previous psychological problems he had.

  7. I don't get this article at all. Illinois (Lake County) is the county that has the poor air record and for this they are awarded with $100 million? If the EPA wants to lump Northwest Indiana (Lake and Porter) into that region, then shouldn't the two Indiana counties get a piece of that money? If we are part of the problem, then why does Illinois only receive funds to reduce traffic and congestion? The EPA clearly through this article wants to pick and choose what rules NWI has to follow. They want NWI to go into a non-attainment status but refuse to grant monies to improve the supposed problem.

Who in Illinois is scratching the back of the EPA to get ALL of the funds and stiff NWI? Either NWI is a part of the poor air quality region and gets a part of the money for this project or the EPA takes away the non attainment status and allows for less stringent air quality measures. ITS THAT SIMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

  8. Holy cow man. A .42 BAC???!!!!!!!!!!!!!???? This has to compare to the guy earlier in the year who had an insane BAC. That guy even made almost a national record for highest recorded BAC. I think this chick is pretty close..... Wow!!!

Dark Cloud, I don't want to see a pic of this nasty chick topless. Ugh!

Why wasn't she arrested for being under the influence of ecstasy? That should have been the biggest charge she should have gotten...

  9. Why would I believe concernedmom? Because anyone who is your enemy would be more then willing to throw out all the "dirt" on you. Obviously this woman knows you and your family very well. Instead of denying it, you ask what proof there is. That statement implies deception to me. I believe it was you who said your boyfriend works split shifts which usually means he does not always work the 7-7 as you claim. Through your own admission, you admit his shifts rotate which shows he does not always work the times in question to send your kids to school via car. That shows you once again lied because you said you could NEVER take the kids to school because your boyfriend is with the car. I mentioned slander because no matter what, you publicly, by name, mentioned these people on this forum. You want me to believe you, but I would rather believe your enemy who has nothing to lose by telling us all of your skeletons!
