- first of all hammond code does a very good job, however the amount it collects in rental reg. plus 500 late fees is more an 1 million. Code has 7 people with building and zoning having 8 full time and two part time inspectors and the entire budget is less than 1 million including code. rental make up nearly 50% of the housing stock in hammond. And that is without any building permit fees. Hire more code inforcement inspectors to keep our aging city clean and the investors will stop bitching. Use the money for what it was intended for!
