I graduated Munster about 10 years ago now, and while I respect the education most teachers instilled in me there are a lot of gripes I have in regards to how they handle students. I was a subpar student to say the least, and I will take the blame for graduating with a 2.1 GPA. However, the Munster School District seem more concerned with ignoring students who didn’t fit into their “Blue Ribbon Award” quota instead of helping them. There are three times I could think of when I requested tutoring to help my struggling Geometry grades. Once the teacher that said she’ll meet me after school in her classroom wasn’t around. Another time she said, in front of other students that were requesting help, “How do you not understand this? I’ve been teaching you this all year!” The third time a school counselor arranged me to work with a Senior Honor Student who worked with me for 15 minutes before he left to play with his band. Because we all know how important Battle of The Bands is! It isn’t surprising to me that Munster is blowing up this entire situation with the students “Sexting.” Instead of trying to engage these kids in education Munster rather just punish them so they could focus on their straight A students. But when all is said and done I am a manager at a law firm in Chicago for the last 9 years, I have no debt, and I own a house. So much for that Business and Personal Law teacher I had that said, “I won’t amount to anything if I don’t go to college or a trade school.” Oh and to that Advertising teacher who I believe is head of the Business Department at the High School now. I am not gay despite you calling me gay numerous times during class. Maybe be a little less homophobic and actually do your job!
