  1. Come on people. Get behind this. How do you think you stop a kid from being a future meth addict or cocaine abuser? Give them something positive to do and a place to go when their parents aren't home. And Floyd, have you ever helped the police by telling them where these houses are?

  2. This is so sad. These kids don't have a chance. The City of Gary, and Lake County as a whole seem to revere criminal behavior in it's leadership. Thank God for the voucher program. And thank God for the teachers and coaches that still love their jobs and are doing everything they can with what they are given. And everybody else reading this, don't gloat. Your school system could be next.

  3. Don't believe the man behind the curtain. Heed the warning. No matter what they promise, it can always be undone. I'll repeat myself here. Are you old enough to remember how we got gambling in Indiana? They promised to fund education. Gambling is still going on but our schools are struggling with budget cuts. Are they sending gambling revenues to our schools? Do any of the people that continually return the same snatch and grab politicians to office in Lake County ever read these comments? Just wondering.

  4. Patti
Just so you know, I did contact the council. I sent an email and I made a call. And I will continue to do so. Just like I did for the "wheel tax". Just like I did for the South Shore expansion into Valparaiso. The problem is the county council likes to pass laws like this because they like to say, everybody else has already done it. And how many people in Lake County will support it because they won't have to pay it? Keep living in that dream world and put us in our place. Just don't forget to do your research.

  5. I would love to protest this tax. I would love to complain to the county commissioners. The problem is as long as the voters of Lake County are willing to keep returning the crooks to their offices, what difference will it make to complain? There is a big problem when the director of the Hammond Library makes more money than the Governor of our state. If you think I'm wrong about that fact, research it through the archives of this paper. They reported it a few years ago. And I still haven't been given a good answer to this question. Remember how gambling got started in Indiana? We were told the money was going to fund education. Apparently that hasn't happened. And how many firefighters have been trained by the money generated through fireworks sales taxes? We need the papers to look into all the pension and insurance programs for county employees before I would ever get behind another tax.

  6. Does anybody know if Nick Prochno still lives in Wheeler? You can't say that about Dustin's daddy. Do you pick up and move if you have nothing to hide? Don't ever forget that this civil servant would not let the police into his home. Why not? Who else knows how to cover up a crime? To the girls standing on the street corner with the Justice of Amanda signs, YOU GO GIRLS. Wish I could be there with you.

  7. Remember 2005 the 3 young people in Hobart that were gunned down in a house. Bless their souls. They were killed by 3 men because one of the men that survived the incident was a drug dealer. There was a ton of evidence in that trial. Including first hand witnesses. The evidence was collected much quicker and efficiently that this trial. Long story short, the first trial of those 3 criminals ended in a mistrial all because one juror said "I know the police and the police they lie". Juries can do anything. And they don't always do the right thing.

  8. I think he did it. But unfortunately the prosecution can't, I believe with the help of Daddy, put the gun in his hand. He had the motive, in his twisted mind, he had the opportunity, and he had the means. I don't know the law well enough to know if that's enough. My one question is, if he didn't kill her, then who did? Why is she gone? The only logical conclusion is Dustin. My heart aches for Amanda's family and friends. One beautiful innocent gone and one bunch of ill favored individuals, The McCowan family left to live with the half-truths they've told. Does anybody know where they ran to? If they aren't involved in this then why move?

  9. A comedy of errors. That's our Lake County government to a tee. And the LRCA says they aren't morally or legally obligated to help the Pittmans. Does anybody else find something really wrong with that? What an ill conceived notion for a religious organization.
