- Apples and oranges here. Hammond is a town that is filled with low income residents. A town that has lost its bus service for those low income residents. But a town filled of people who genuinely care, a town full of well deserving individuals that have the same rights that everyone else does. I visit the Hammond Library often. It doesn't appear to me that any of the employees look overpaid, some of them I know and they are struggling to get by just like everyone else. If the library moved it would pacify those of a higher income because those holier than now wouldn't have to step foot in an area that they feel is beneath them, but what about all those people who really need the library there. Those located in that exact area who walk almost everyday, because of no bus service.
