- Won't mandating identification place an undue burden on minorities, women, the poor, and young people like it supposedly does when it comes to voting?

- Lots of people get their name in the paper and little to nothing comes of it. Sounds like these "good friends" were probably politicians who believe the drivel that their sycophants put forth about them: that simply because they can fool a bunch of voters north of 80/94, they are actually smarter than everyone else. Not so.

- Does anyone under the age of 60 actually waste their time with the printed edition of any paper?

- Hey there Sparky! Is STFU really your last name or just your initials? Some of you have to remember that American Tourister commercial in which a guy dressed like an ape slings a suitcase around his cage in a fit of simian rage? Can anybody picture this poster doing that about now? How long has this guy been trying to "shame" people into using their names online, knowing full well that half of all LC county and municipal workers have little better to do with their working hours than make life difficult for political enemies? Don't worry, "BaringParkwayDave", there are plenty of other outlets for your bluster.

- Right on Dead Man's Hand. I posted a similar reply that appeared to have been deleted as soon as I hit the enter key! He fits in well with the rest of the on-air personalities and callers there.

- Thanks Howard, but keep an eye on Lubu too. He has more immediate insight than I do. I am writing from a distance but was born in East Chicago. My family left during the glorious days of twice-weekly garbage pick-ups by three-man truck crews. Thing is, the names have changed but the personalities, perspectives, and SOP of the local leadership has not budged.

- Ain't this response by the Times just like Da' Region in general? Huff and puff about what pugnacious street fighters you are but when the heat gets turned up, fold, cry "unfair" and blame everyone but yourselves. Heavy industry did that at the first hint of Asian and European competition and so many other sectors have followed suit. The politicians who pull your strings gladly steal their electorate blind for the benefit of themselves, their families, and their close connections, but newsies get all high and mighty about "keeping hands off of relatives". Dozens of poorly written editorials advocate for what will be wasteful tax increases, but the paper won't pay out enough to attract decent writers. Those that are hired are forced to moonlight at menial jobs or rely on the droppings of publicly employed spouses to make ends meet. No matter what policy the comment section is to follow, NWI will continue on its decades long decent into Gary-dom, despite all the hot air that emanates from One Region, the Times Board of Economists, NWI Now!, and all of the other backslapping busybodies.

- I wonder how many times the elected leadership has heard that threat! "Time to throw the bums out", right? Sure thing.

- No tax relief will materialize. The money will be squandered. There are none so blind as those that won't see.

- Ain't that the truth. The 21st Century is no time for a bunch of second-rate high school educated provincials to be managing any type of government entity.
