  3. Keep this in mind when you do business with the state of Illinois. They will not pay you on time. You will be lucky if they only pay you a couple of months behind. Some of their creditors end up waiting years for full payment.

    If you were a private company with this problem, nobody and I mean nobody would give you any credit of any kind. You would be required to pay cash upfront. Government shouldn't be allowed to get away with something that the private sector would never be allowed to do.

  5. "Start of renewal in the last 12 months"? Is she nuts? What has changed in the last year to indicate that? If anything things are getting worse in the city of steel. Crime and unemployment are likely up not down. And the rest of the state isn't going to send yet more resources for the city to waste.

    There has been no renewal in Gary for decades. Close to 5 decades by now. Gary has been dragging along the bottom so long several generations have never seen Gary do well.

    Until Gary voters change the leadership in city hall nothing will change in the city. Freeman-Wilson is a member of the corrupt status quo. As is a politician so invested in the way things are now. Until those politicians are gone the city will continue to waste away. The current way the city runs things, it will only continue to repel investment and businesses.

    To fix it will take lots of hard work. Its not glamorous, no fancy ribbon cuttings and no kickbacks, so that's why the current folks don't want to do it.

  6. Townships date to the horse and buggy days, when maybe a closer government was needed. They should have been left there in the past. Calumet Township is just the worst example of why they should all be abolished. There is no real good reason for having townships anymore, even the ones that don't waste as much money as Calumet. Its just another level of government we no longer need can no longer afford.

  10. It sad that voters in that district are so duped, they will reelect Jackson. The various scandals should have done him in, let alone now, with his serious health problems finally becoming public.

    Frankly, Jackson himself should drop out and take care of his own health. There is no way a person with his mental health problems can do that job. He needs to gracefully bow out and retire from politics.
