  1. Give me 20 bucks and I bet can drop the number of accidents at LaPorte/49. People exiting northbound 49 and going east on to 2 have very poor visibility because of where the lane line is for people heading west. You end up so close to the lane of travel just to cross check that it looks like you're going, the driver behind you assumes the same, and wham! I say this knowing 2 people that have been in this type of accident here. Move the 49 North to LaPorte West line and the number will probably drop by 5-10

  2. Actually, in the full interview, Pelath referenced both Republican and Democratic bills that he'd like to see brought to the floor. Couldn't tell you whose off the top of my head, but its not just those of his party.

  3. She is right about the testing. All they do now when they want to assess "growth" is they group your student in with a bunch of others who scored similarly the year before and compare them. So never are we really looking at the student's growth, we're looking at how the student does compared to others.

  4. I went this year but didn't spend a dime outside of parking. I went about an hour after opening on Saturday and there were few that seemed ready to go. I look forward to getting my BBQ from the guys in Merrillville and they weren't even there!

    They should do more of a five course thing the each night with each restaurant serving a course in addition to the booths. And simply put, get more of them. The choices this year seemed fewer, or maybe they were just less interesting.

    Or just have it the Sunday after popcorn fest in downtown Valpo.

    Did parents sign to send student records? Usually when we have somebody transfer at our school, the parents have to sign something. Just wait, a family educational rights in privacy act lawsuit is not far behind.

    I love that Edison expects Gary to do all the maintenance. This is such a scam. We're going to take all the money away, but you're still expected to pay the maintenance people.

    Let Edison really run a school.

  6. This is good news. If they could take care of a few buildings around the hospital, they could route traffic in such a way that they could fix the downtown mess. Might be too much deep thought involved for them though, not sure.

Personal opinion, although its probably not ideal, instead of the bridges, they should just buy the vacant parcel immediately north of that toll that people coming from 80/94 to the west-bound toll road pay (for some reason I think its a vacant K-Mart or former truck stop), build a ramp down to Ripley, and divert that traffic to Ripley. The mess they have there now is terrible. At least we'd be using existing roads and ramps.
