  1. No, they're struggling because they refuse to live without cable, internet, cell phones, fancy cars, smaller houses, etc. Or they had kids before they could afford them and did no financial planning. Raising the minimum wage leads to more unemployment and/or higher prices. We need to get the Fed to stop inflating our currency.

  2. "The sign was posted Friday afternoon outside of the McDaniel Fire Systems' headquarters and fabrication shop. It isn't clear how long the sign had been posted."

Huh?? Sucks for the owners. The banks would rather have zero than lose a few bucks. For shame.

  4. And it was bleeding heart Dems who wanted to give loans to everyone even if they didn't qualify. There's plenty of blame to go around. Oh, and the Wall Streeters who packaged and sold these securities are the very same people who donate millions of dollars to Obama's cause. Go figure.

  5. As a woman, I ask y'all kindly to stop referring to this as "women's rights." Maybe try "liberal women's agenda" or something, but leave the rest of us out of it. Many women, believe it or not, don't vote "with their lady parts."

  6. No, you're a prime example of confirmation bias. SAT scores are the lowest they've ever been (despite actually making them easier), and we fall far behind our international competitors. Whenever the issue is brought up, the union-controlled voices say, "We need more funding." We've thrown more and more money at the problem, even created a federal Department of Education in the 1970s, and education has gotten worse. Then when you speak of holding teachers accountable, they cry that it's not fair. Why not? In the real world, which you'll hopefully experience after you graduate even though there's a 50% unemployment rate for 2012 college grads, you are held accountable for your results. A teacher's purpose is to teach, not to babysit. If the teaching is not translating into well-learned kids, somebody's got to own up to that fact. Instead, they play the blame game while they fight for higher pay and higher benefits. If you go into the private sector, just try pointing the finger every time you fail to perform. You'll be fired pdq. Oh, and I went to LC, and they were so horrible and unsupportive that I dropped out at 15, got my GED, and started college early. Now 22, my partner and I run our own business and face the "real world" everyday. So anecdotal evidence countered aaaaaaaand I'm spent.

  8. This is how the teachers pull a "CYA campaign." They reword the "standards" and act like they actually accomplished something. Or they say, "The only reason our kids aren't doing better is because the schools don't get enough money!"

No money, no "standards," no testing is going to improve our kids' education. We need to hold teachers accountable when their students consistently perform below par. We need to stop teaching useless PE classes and spend an hour more per day learning how to read and write and do basic math. There's a whole host of problems that the teachers and their ilk are refusing to address. My question is "Why?!"
