  3. I thought I made my comment idiot proof but obviously not... I even put SOME teachers in caps and I also said "NOT ALL TEACHERS ARE LAZY".... My comment didn't sound like I was judging ALL teachers at all. You just needed something to complain about. It wasn't harsh to say.. It is very true!! My childs teacher has been with the school a long time, this teacher thinks outside the box and is creative and doesn't teach "how the government wants" her to and she hasn't been fired.. She is just a great teacher and takes time to come up with new things other than complain about everything she can't change!!
    Getting rid of testing would be a HORRIBLE idea!! Kids need a little pressure to succeed..

  4. Courage, this is to your other comment but their was no reply button on that comment. They are trying to revamp the ISTEP questions to ease into the switch over and it will be similar to the Core Values so that it won't be such a "culture shock".

  5. Also... I love it how you can't handle a factual comment so you tell me I need to improve my mind... If they had a huge paycheck they still probably wouldn't fill it out, but my point wasn't they won't fill it out because they don't make enough it was that some are too lazy!!! This new ISTEP test will test the kids ability to learn outside the box, forcing the teachers to teach skills not test answers. They can't teach a test on this new ISTEP plan, they have to teach the kids the skills to know what to do should this happen in everyday life. You must know nothing about this new ISTEP!!! So how about this to give you a comment just as annoying as yours... Educate yourself about the ISTEP and my comment before you make another ridiculous comment!!

  6. This is one of the most stupid comments I have heard in a long time!!! My statement about teachers isn't ignorant it's fact!!! Why would I need to work to improve my own mind?? You must be a teacher... To answer one question, Yes, I would want Madonna teaching my kid over some teachers :)

  7. I am on a Parent Advisory Board for a school and another mother on the board is a teacher at one of the Valparaiso Middle Schools. One thing that we went over was the layout of different types of Progress Reports and one was lengthy but it gave all the information a parent should and needs to know. This mother/teacher said she didn't like it because no teacher would "feel like" filling out "that much info" for each child.
    This is just an example of how lazy SOME teachers have become! Not all teachers, my childs teacher who was at the meeting liked the lengthy version and agreed it would help benefit our kids because the parents would have more knowledge of what to work on including a child's social skills. As a parent, I don't care if a teacher doesn't "feel like" filling out a form that will have a huge beneficial impact on each child... IT IS YOUR JOB.. A teacher knows going into the job that it is long hours, hard work, and cr@p pay!!! So don't become a teacher if you don't feel like doing the work!!

    Then we discussed the new ISTEP Core Values that is being presented... It is harder, but why are parents so not willing to push their kids????? They allow their child to slack off because they don't want them to have to work harder and just keep it easy. I think SOME of the teachers that don't want this new program is because they will have to work harder and SOME teachers have become just as LAZY as their students... This is why other countries children are smarter than ours!!
