There was alot more to this bill that was cut away. People that park in the Handicapped Parking Spots that are NOT Handicapped are just to lazy to use a regular parking spot. They are taking away a spot for someone who reaaly needs that spot.
Being I am the person who has been working with Senator Charbonneau on this bill to change Handicapped Parking in Indiana for the last 3 years, I am glad to see something is being done now, I wanted the fine to be 500.00, up from 50.00, but the dollar amount was settled on at 100.00. I also asked that more Handicapped Parking Spots be added but the State of Indiana meets the A.D.A. requirements for parking spaces.
Check with your local police dept. to see if they offer classes for help on Handicapped Parking.
Intill you or a family member is handicapped and when your out and about to do some shopping and can't find a Handicapped Parking Spot because people who are to lazy to park in a regular spot are parking in a Handicapped Spot, you will understand what this is all about.
If you don't have a Handicapped Plate or Card, park in a normal parking spot and walk the extra like everyone else has to!!!!!!
