    This isn't news, it's a trouble maker looking for attention. He probably walked away after kicking and screaming on the ground didn't work.

    Does the little league player deserve less emergency care than a man having a heart attack? Should an obese patient EVER be referred to as a "fatty?" What does the size, make, or model of an ambulance have to do with the care received?

    Fire-based EMS has proven to be the best and most efficient form of EMS delivery in several national studies. Firefighters are pre-positioned in, and are members of a community.

    The fact that Porter County is poised to ADD fire-based EMS to several communities should tell you something; Lake County politicians are all to willing to sell-out their citizens for short term political gain.

    They Just Don't Get It, go back to your miserable life on the private ambulance and let the fire-based EMS treat and transport the fatty's and twisted ankles that aren't worth your time.

  4. Terrible accident, hope he's okay. Why was he taken to St. Catherine's? With an accident like that he should have gone to a trauma center, at least that is what state law requires.

If Vinzant considers success in East Chicago as unqualified and unlicensed people starting IV's, private ambulances reporting to EC dispatch that they are on scene when they are not (several instances where police officers were on scene and told dispatch there was no ambulance in sight), and slow responses to seizure calls, then yes it has been a tremendous success!
