You might try going to the Porter County Assessors website and look up what some of the local businesses are really paying in Property taxes. We have the highest rate in Porter County, yet we get more student tuition than our neighboring schools.
On the County Auditors website is the top taxpayers per parcel for both Hebron and Boone Township. It's not a few hundred dollars!
Harry Hruska was a very good speaker and asked questions of the Board as to how the school problems could be solved. He has built his business in Hebron and contributes a sizable property tax amount to both the school and community. Maybe you should educate yourself about the businesses our community has in both Norbeh Industrial Park and the Industrial Park south of Town. They help our tax base and should be congratulated. P.S. Please contact Senator Ed Charbonneau @ 1-800-382-9467, Representative Rick Niemeyer @ 1-800-382-9841, and the Indiana State Superintendent of Schools Glenda Ritz which happens to be a teacher from Washington Township. The State took that $300 million from the schools. Also please contact House Speaker Brian Bosma that is trying to budget more cash to K-12 Education. We need to band together and get some of that money back from the state. They also raised our sales tax to 7%. We also need a campaign to bring more students to our fine school thru the school voucher program. YOU GO GIRL........GOOD LUCK!
