- As a parent in this school, and having seen the amazing improvement from the old building and all the issues it had. I cannot say enough!! The look of pride on my child's face speaks volumes. The fact that she doesn't have huge allergy issues anymore and isn't sick all the time means a lot! Thanks to the 158 Board!! You've done a wonderful thing here for our children and the future of Oak Glen!

- I KNOW what kind of education my daughter received in District 158. I KNOW that the teachers use the smart board technology to teach the children. I KNOW that they give them the pat on the back. I KNOW that they participate in my child's education. I KNOW that a specific candidate did call the tablets used for one on one computing "electronic coloring books". That part is on video. I KNOW that my child excels at her school. I KNOW what her grades are continually by checking on them via computer. I KNOW that my child reads on a level well beyond her grade (high school level actually). I am willing to bet you don't spend much time if any at any of the schools in 158. I do! I am there at some point, almost every single day. I have been since my child started kindergarten. My daughter has received a great education at 158 schools. I KNOW that to be a fact. Guess we'll see where the chips fall in a little less than a month. Hopefully the voters in this community will take an interest in the people who actually have done something positive.

- I would like to know where you collected this picture. If you collected it from the Oak Glen PTA website, it is the property of Kathy Sylvester, and I suggest you remove it or give her proper credit. Thank you.

- To Head Out of Sand. Do you spend any time in any of our schools in #158? I do!!! I know that the children in our district have gotten great benefit from one and one computing. If you paid attention at the forum (if you were there), Mr. Bonifazi stated the #'s, so we're aware of them. We also know that test scores have improved every year in our district. Most parents are paying attention to what is going on at our school. Those of us who are able to be involved at the schools have the joy of seeing a bit more of what's going on behind the doors. If you have not spent any time at our schools, you really can't say what's going on there. My child isn't in enrichment and excelling because she isn't being educated and encourage by a human. As for the people who say a computer can't give a student encouragement or a "pat on the back", the teachers encourage our children every single day. Why not just quit bashing, and go vote on election day. Get involved in the schools and then you can really say what's going on.

- Mr. Taylor's stance was on the District 158 schools. Choosing to send his son to Marian Catholic really has no reflection on the school district he is on the board of. If Mr. Woods can afford to send his children to the University of Chicago as you stated, they had to qualify to get in first. Good for them!! I am a proud parent of a district 158 school. Oak Glen to be exact. My child has blossomed as a child under the tutelage of the teachers and administration at this school. My child enjoys the benefits of the enrichment program and excels. I am thankful for the current board's efforts. Thank you for all you do and keep up the great work current board!! You have the full support and votes of the adults in my household!!!

- Mr. Czapokowicz only speaks with Mr. Arens after the meeting. Why not give fair time to other board members? I attended this meeting, as I attend most if not all. Mr. Czapokwicz paints the district board in negative light time and time again. Some of these members have more interest in the others because they have children in the district. They are thinking about their children's education. Mr. Arens is simply thinking about the taxes. I as a resident, taxpayer and a parent of a student in 158, had no issue with that increased tax levy. Cook County ultimately has the control. BUT costs of running the district will continue to go up. Eventually that nest egg is going to be gone, and then there will have to be a large increase. I'd much rather have a small one.

- Is this the "big news" Mayor Norm Abbott was referring to at The Evening of Thanks? I doubt it. Nice job Mr. Abbott and company. Expect a tax increase in 2014, Lansing. They're gonna need that money from somewhere!!! Remember there is an election coming up!! Vote these people out!! They did nothing to try and keep this company here!! NOTHING!

- As it was told in the meeting, these families have removed their students. There was far more positive at this meeting than there was negative. The success of our children (once again) gets over shadowed by the nay sayers and negativity. Give the district some credit! We have so many positive things going on in district 158. The success of our students shows it! Punkin, come to a school board meeting and see for yourself! You do not get the full story in a very short newspaper blurb. I am thankful for a Superintendent who is very engaged and a board that is engaged as well. Don't just go by the little bit you had handed to you here.
