  1. I do apologize about my "minimum" comment. Your right, that is just my position and I didn't mean to be insensitive but if this doesn't get passed and the town of Munster becomes average and people stop moving here for the school system (or people move out of here) and our property values drop you are going to have a bigger problem than worrying about a $10-$20 a month tax increase.

As for the pool and field I do belive you are incorrect. Trust me, I am a republican so you probably can guess how I feel about paying more taxes but I stand by what I said above. The town NEEDS this and I hope everybody does their homework and gets facts before making any decisions.

  2. Munster teachers already took a 3% pay DECREASE years ago when the state cut the funding.

  3. The swimming pool and the football field were built and paid for out of a different account. The school had to use the money or lose it. The state does not allow them to transfer money from one account to another. The school board had several meetings about this and explained why we need the money and how important it is. Munster is known for its schools and is ranked in the top 5% of the state (even with being cheated out of millions of dollars by the state). They had an emergency fund that they had been using for the past several years and now that account is gone. The schools and the town NEED this referendum to pass in order to keep the schools operating at a top level. If it doesn't get passed they will be firing over 30 teachers (they only have about 170 (I THINK it was). Class sizes will average almost 40-45 kids per class with no aids. What kind of quality teaching will get done with class sizes that big? Munster NEEDS this tax. If they don't get it the school town of Munster will fall and turn into a failing community like most of its surrounding towns. What do you think will happen to property values if that happens? The tax amount they are asking for is so minimum and is well worth it to keep Munsters schools at the prestigious level they are. I will be voting YES and STRONGLY encourage everybody to educate themselves on the facts and not just assume they wasted money on the pool, football fields etc. Do you really think the school town of Munster got to the level and notoriety for being one of the best schools in the county by being irresponsible with their money? PLEASE educate yourself on all the facts and details before voting! I almost guarantee you that you will probably vote YES if you knew all the information.
