  1. My property taxes were already raised for this year and they're already asking for more? Plus a new vehicle tax? It sounds like instead of raising taxes we need to be getting rid of county employees. They can't even manage to do a simple financial evaluation without contracting out to a private firm. They aren't worth their salaries.

  3. Yeah, it would help public education but hurt the students. Improving the financial health of public constructs and greasing union palms at the expense of those they pretend to be helping is how we got to where we are today. Everyone wants public programs funded but nobody cares about the results.

  4. I don't have an issue with music programs. Just make it an after-school hobby like sports which, by the way, also improve classroom performance. The point is to free up another hour during the school day for students to learn useful skills that will help them get through college and get a job that actually contributes to the economy. We have too many high school graduates who think playing an instrument and drawing pictures is fun so they should spend $100,000 getting a college education majoring in a hobby. The end result is another highly educated retail worker.

  5. Historical data shows that increasing funding into public education has not yielded increased test scores nor international competitiveness. Until the public schools evolve their programs to meet real-world needs (more STEM, less arts/music/social studies) I say keep the cuts and look at even more. Public education is bloated and inefficient. Besides, even if the funds are restored, localities are not going to roll back lucrative tax increases that the voters have already approved. That's all gravy for them.

It's a shame the voters were guilted and shamed into increasing their own taxes to fund a broken, archaic system but that's the choice that they made.

  6. What goes on in the classroom is not what's putting American children at a disadvantage. There are competitive students that come from every school. What's changing is what's going on at home. It's pretty clear that education commitment has gone from being a No. 1 priority for parents and students to further down on the list after social media, video games, partying, being the center of attention, and being entitled.

Throwing money at the schools is also not the answer and it's good that it's being scaled back. Compare education funding to international test scores and you will see. American society has been changing for years. It's not up to the schools to fix it.

  8. The problem with these types of things is, this is not designed to reduce vehicle crashes and incidents. It stops nothing. All it does is allow for Indiana to cash in on the carnage.

You might catch a few hundred people with this. How many those people actually change their driving habits permanently based on a speeding ticket? 10%? How many of these people are not truck drivers who will actually be back on the road later? So now we're down to a few dozen people that will have changed their driving habits due to this system. Congrats. But all people who speed don't cause accidents. Maybe just one out of these few dozen.

So Indiana is doing all of this to prevent one future accident. Just call it what it is. More and easier tickets that they don't have to fight in court.

  9. If you obey the LAW and do the speed limit you are likely to be the one who causes and accident. If everyone else is going 70, you better be going 70 as well.
