Where do you get the idea that teachers at charter schools are non-certified? You sound a little bitter. Almost, like a licensed teacher replaced you in a long-term sub position because you were not licensed.

- Well mrfixtit, FIX IT. What can you do to help? I really wish you would read about the history the of Gary and understanding that urban DECAY lays the foundation for urban REVITALIZATION. I would like to recommend the book, "City of the Century": A History of Gary, Indiana by James Lane. This book would give you some insight on the current state of Gary and the rich history the city.

- I must agree that charter schools are not for every child! If you have a child that does not like to learn, enjoys cussing-out their teachers, go to school once or twice a week and have parents that condone this behavior then CHARTER SCHOOLS are not for them! I am sick and tired of hearing people bash charters but have never sat foot in NOT a one. As a nation, parents need to be held accountable for student achievement as well as the schools. Too many times I overhear parents complaining about their babe's school and they don't understand why the school keeps punishing their babe while in the same breathe they same the child acts the same way at home and they don't know what to do with THEM! So I guess they expect a miracle when that child arrives at school. Teachers and school staff are not miracle-workers but they are sometimes the only kind face your babe may see ALL DAY.
