  1. "The culprit in this case is the state’s massive pile of unpaid bills." I beg to differ. The culprit in this case is the fact that corrupt politicians stealing the money, shifting the money to pay for their own double dipping, and luxurious health insurance funded by the now-every-ten-seconds a person leaves Illinois" is the problem. Term limits, pay your own insurance and travel/entertainment, consolidating redundant offices, eliminating your pensions and paying into Social Security, no perks, is the solution. No one knows better than the politicians in IL where the real culprits of the money-mess in IL lies: the public sector and THIER "entitlements". You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all the people all the time. Get real and good luck. Every TEN SECONDS a person moves out of IL. Hopefully, the money will dry up so fast, the politicians will have NO ONE to support them. Corruption/Greed? You can thank yourselves, incompetent politicians with the lollypops sticking out of your mouth.

  2. In the private sector, I had to pay into my own insurance. It's as simple as that. I didn't make all that much money at the time. It was an above average pay at the time, but as I recall, it was a small sacrifice out of the paycheck, and appreciated. Why can't you politicians just see it for what it is in today's economy: the taxpayers' can't bleed anymore for YOU.

  7. B.S. Irene. Scoientific data supports the chromosone upheavel. It is NOT their fault and who are YOU to decide they were not born that way. I have a few friends that wish they were not BORN that way. They had to accept it. I suggest you not judge any one who does not tout it, nor try to show it. They have it hard enough without hard-core people like you. Marriage is a contract. Religious ceremonies are different and doesn't keep "Gays" from "marrying" It''s a civil right. I want you to explain to me why the divorce rate (held in churches) is more than 47 or 50% when they vow to love, cherish and honor, until death. Why? Because people like YOU are bigoted Archie Bunkers. It doesn't affect YOU unless they harm YOU. I have lots of friends who admitted being gay, even after being married and divorced. It's a civil union between two people whether female/male or gays. This is America and don't you think you would take back your words if one of your kids came out of the closet and said, "Hey,my God, you produced me, why didn't you check out the X and Y before you conceived me to make sure I wouldn't be rejected by you? Being GAY isn't and never was a choice. Being bearing parents of producing a child through no fault of his or her's fault is no excuse. They did not have a choice in the womb how the "X and Y" would later change the male/female factor outcome. I hope you do encounter one of your own children coming forward saying something is wrong, that, "I must be gay; I prefer those of my own sex". Then I'd like to see you drop dead. I am NOT gay; and those friends of ,mine who are...we laugh the most. I feel sorry for you. Just like the two-faced pastor of Hammond Baptist Church. You have to be the most loneliest person next to the No. 1, Moreno. I'd love to see the look on your face if a grandkid told you he/she was gay.

  8. They just dug a bigger hole for themselves. According to a leading pro in analyzing trends, etc., every ten minutes, a resident leaves IL. The teachers think they won, but if I was "stuck" in any city with a low rate of graduates, I'd move so my kids would get the best education possible. Charter schools will become the norm, and those that thought they won the union fight, will be those that will flee Chicago as fast as you can say, "Detroit". Obama already has plans to move to Hawaii if he loses his election. There won't be many taxpayers left to support a school system that has a 47% drop out rate. Times have changed; politicians are about to meet their fate. The biggest joke was that Congressman Jesse Jr., was quoted by his wife as having trouble talking in sentences. What a fluke of an excuse to explain to the FEDS why he didn't know what he was doing. They ALL do, until they are caught. Just like church leaders, the public can no longer hold trust in those that are suppose to leave. The union contract is nothing more than a faux pass. There is NO money to bale out the over 1 billion in a hole budget next year. Teachers should be held accountable under smaller class sizes, but if you swamp them with 30 students, I side with them, even crediting the fact that family atmosphere plays an important role in determining the success of their child or children, The strike accomplished nothing. There is no such thing as job security when brighter parents get to determine where to move and live to avoid such nonsense. Raising property taxes, and cigarette taxes is not the answer. Money saved moving some to other states that offer lower taxes, vouchers, and etc., is the answer. I thank God I had the opportunity to send my kids where they did receive an ultimate education, where, everyday, I had to drive five five miles away - sometimes several times a day, due to plays, fundraising, and sports. I knew it cost us as parents, more money, time, and sacrifices paying tuition, but the thing is, I made sure my kids had a healthy breakfast, packed their lunches with healthy food, and was involved as a parent. The kids now say how much they appreciated it when they disliked what was on the menu at school, but I made sure I packed their lunches when I saw for myself the disgusting food they fed my kids. You parents need to step up to being responsible parents, make your children your first priority. The only thing I can think of that keeps you irresponsible is that you get more money from the Gov't for having more kids, and therefore, the Gov't will take care of you. Even at school, they won't help you help yourself to help your kids. For that, hang your heads in shame. It's a cycle. Do the best thing for your kids...don't make them grow up as
dependents. And don't be a co-dependent. Break the cycle of kids killing kids. It's YOUR fault as parents. Not the police or those suffering at the hands of multiple children by multiple fathers, just to collect a check. Once that check is cut off, you see, they turn into murderers, gang-bangers, thieves and thugs.Children only know what the were taught. Morals, ethics, compassion for human kind should be passed on as it was for you when the public doled out the money in the form of taxes to help you gain prosperity. You took that as a "right" and instead of improving, it's my opinion you passed down your version of what is owed to you. And when that ran out, it was ok to have your kids go out and steal, kill, and destroy the core of American values. Shame on you. I suffered, never asked for a dime. I also lived how I expected to live. I did not take. I stuck with the values I was taught. The next time your teen comes home with an item that doesn't belong to him or her..do the right thing to set an example: turn him into the police. Make him or her pay the price. That will end the cycle of violence. Back to Chicago schools: Charters will take over if every ten minutes resident leaves the state of IL. They won nothing.
