  1. Seriously - Quadrupling the national debt is climbing out of a financial abyss? The only reason unemployment numbers seem to be decreasing is the fact that fewer people are receiving unemployment, they are not working either, they are no longer able to receive benefits, and there are fewer jobs available - of course, when you look at the real numbers, we are approaching double digit real unemployment. the numbers reported are only those receiving benefits. As for the housing market - it is what it is because of Liberal policies under Carter and Clinton - Remember when AG Reno threatened the banks when they refused to enforce those policies that allowed people to purchase who were not financially able to repay those loans.

  2. How quickly we forget how the Spendocrats treated GWB. I suppose all of that was just dissent. NO person has disrespected the office of President more than the current President himself. Yes, the GOP has fought him on everything that he has done - Look at the results. For the last two years of the GWB administration, the Country was run into the ground by a Democrat-Controlled Congress and it continued a spiral into oblivian once the Presidency was also Democrat. Who was it that said asking to raise the debt ceiling beyond $4 Trillion could not be allowed to happen? Oh, wait, that was then-Senator Obama. But, $17 Trillion is fine. - THink about that one.
Remember - Liberals are judged only on their intentions, while Conservatives are judged on the results of Liberal intentions.

  3. FACT - GM accepted the bailout and several successful dealerships closed, Pontiac and Saturn, both brands that people wanted to buy, are now gone as part of the deal. Those companies had manufacturing plants that are now shut down and their people out of work. GM is now forced to build cars that people do not want and the government is paying people to buy while FORD, on the other hand, has been thriving and building cars that people want to buy. WHY - because when you build a product that people want, they will buy it. When you force people to purchase a product, they will resent it -even if you try to pay them for it.

Tax subsidies for the rich? What about the tax subsidies for people to purchase cars, the tax subsidies for people to stay poor (Earned Income Tax Credit) that increase every year.

The government does not create jobs, the government takes from working people to support those without. Yes, some people are in need. Government was meant to be a hand-up and not a hand-out.

The fact is that Congress has not passed anything of substance because The Senate, led by the spendocrats, refused to vote on it.

Where does the government get the money to help the poor - taxpayers.

Where does the government get the money to pay for the unemployed - the employed

DO you see a pattern forming here?

The Government does not run without people to pay into the system, and when enough people stop paying into the system, the system will fail.

Lower and stabilize taxes and tax rates - companies will hire more, more people will be paying into the system (expand the tax base) - more people will be able to spend more (increased sales and sales tax income. THIS IS NOT A HARD CONCEPT TO UNDERSTAND - get your head out of the sand and wake up.

  4. A national sales tax might be a good idea if it took place of a personal income tax instead of adding to it. By the way - how do you think money comes into the Federal Government? do we not understand the meaning of Internal Revenue?

  5. Do you, JBird, understand the significance of the medals and why there is an order of placement. Medals that take precedence above the Bronze Star include the Distinguished Flying Cross; Silver Star; Distinguished Service; Navy Cross; CMH. Do you beleive that we we should be giving Drone Pilots awards that supercede awards for Outstanding actions in the field of combat?

I think not. That is not to say that they should not be recognized, just not in a way that outshines combat professionals who risk real life and limb on a daily basis.

  6. This is another example of leveling "The End Zone," instead of leveling "The Playing Field." I believe in equality of opportunity in that everyone should have the same opportunity to succeed; not equality of outcome. If everyone is guaranteed the same outcome, then why compete?

I spent my time in the Marines, but not on the Front Lines; I was in Aviation Ordnance. We helped clear the way for those on the Front Lines. Regardless, I know what it takes to earn those medals and have lost friends, in peacetime and combat, as well as to terrorist attacks - Beirut 1983. Sitting in front of a TV screen and "playing video games" with enemy combatants is not courageous. What happens when these kids realize that those people they blow up do not get second lives? At least a Combat Pilot knows the real risk of life and limb, unlike a Drone Pilot who only risks losing his plane while he sits in a trailer on the other side of the world.

  7. Keep in mind that it is Congress and the Ways and Means Committee that controls the budget. Legally, at least according to the Constitution, Article 1, Section 7, "All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other bills." Typically the House proposes a Budget, then the Senate proposes a Budget, and the bills come together in a joint session. Part of the problem is that there has not been a budget passed since our President's first month in office in 2009. the House has passed a budget, but the Senate has refused to vote on it or present one of their own for Committee. Every agency within the Government must present a budget and justify that budget every year, or two years depending on the agency. If all of the money allocated is not spent, then the budget is reduced the following year by the amount not spent. That is why some agencies are seen as having lavish excursions. Congress approves budgets for individual agencies, but fails to pass an overall budget to justify those expenses.

Yes, Congress is more worried about their own future than our Nation's well-being. People fail to realize that we do have term-limits: the people are Constitutionally mandated to overthrow the Government every two, four, and six years. Unfortunately, the people vote primarily on name recognition and not for the Candidate who is the best for the position. I am not saying that all people vote that way, just the uninformed people who refuse to listen to both sides of an issue, or vote a certain way because that is how their parents voted.

Perhaps it is time to try all new people in Congress. Even if none of the incumbents are re-elected, they are set for life. Yes, that should be re-examined as well. Regardless of who is up for re-election, vote for the other person - we cannot do any worse.

  8. premiums will only go higher under The "Affordable" Care Act - Check out the following articles - this is just 2 - you will find many more that only agree - premiums are about to skyrocket. The scary thing is that the rise in insurance premuims have more than wiped out the rise in income. Again - look at the facts, do the research - have your premiums gone down since the Affordable Care Act was passed? I know mine haven't - and the employer's cost share has increased as well. Insurance companies will need to make up the money that will be lost when they begin insuring people that have not been receiving medical care on a regular basis, and with the following Legislation that is being considered now and in the Federal Register for consideration: "The measure would implement 85-percent “medica loss ratio” requirements on Medicare Advantage plans and the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit Program. In other words, plans that deliver services under those plans must spend at least 85 percent of their premiums on “clinical services, prescription drugs, quality improving activities, and direct benefits to beneficiaries,” according to the proposal. Overhead expenses and profits would be capped at 15 percent. "

Explain to me how insurance companies will be able to stay in business otherwise - They won't and all will be forced to receive government run health care - As a Disabled Vet I know and understand socialized medicine through the VA - yes, I am grateful for what I have, but they do not cover my family and my care, though getting better, is waiting 2-3 months just for an MRI - 2 years on Disability rulings. Wake Up and smell the stuff the Liberals are shoveling.

  9. Keep in mind that when you outlaw guns - only the outlaws will have guns. Criminals do not care about the law - they will find a way to get what they need and do the damage and harm they want to do - one of the earliest "School" terrorism acts in this country did not involve guns - it was dynamite.
