  1. I don't know why all of you Ross Township people are crying like BABIES you would think that you would want to be associated with Hobart in stead of Merrillville. Why don't you read the paper and look at the see what goes on in Merrillville, it a fecal-matter hole. No one wants to move there because their schools are overrun with gangs and crime, no wonder Hobart does not want to be associated with that.

  2. Its about time the Mayor cracks down, GOOD JOB! The firemen cry about lack of coverage in the city, well this is the first measure to keeping them at the fire stations where they should be. Next step stop them from driving the fire trucks all over, I have seen Hobart Fire Trucks in Portage at WALMART this is just wrong.
April 01, 2013 9:12 am on Hobart firefighters union, mayor at odds over location for meetings, attendance
  3. Tom Castle where do you live? Not in Hobart, you get in front of the news paper people and you cry like you really care about the people of Hobart. I have seen first hand the change over from a city ambulance to a private company and it works. If the paper reported the truth most people would see it like I do. Next time you are driving past St. Marys hospital look in the far corner of the parking lot, look by Mendards or the Speedway on 61st or in the parking lot of the Mall. Yes, there are two people sitting in an ambulance waiting for a call with the engine running. The fire fighters that don't live here and just here to get a pay check from Hobart are crying about slow response times from the contract people, I am not seeing that. During the day the Hobart Fire Department has every fire truck and ambulance sitting at house 1 for a cook out. How does that make for a good response time to the west, east or south side of Hobart? Hobart Fire may be on the ball while they are cooking hot dogs and burgers sitting together, but after 5 o'clock they are all washing their cars and waxing them in the garage and sleeping in the lounge chairs in front of the stations thumbing their noses at the taxpayers that pay their salaries, then they get into their cars and drive back home to Cedar Lake, Lowell, Merrillville or Munster like Tom Castle the leader of the fight to waist the tax payers money of Hobart. Give me a break people take some time and evaluate this topic with the facts not the ramblings of people that just take your money.

  4. I have a great idea lets double the taxes we pay so we can employ a full time Fire Department that does not pay Hobart taxes because they all live in other communities. Or we could have a residency law that requires you to live in the city then I would feel bad and maybe take your side and have some sympathy for you. All of you created this mess, in the old days all of the cops and firemen lived in Hobart and this turmoil never existed. If you don't like it then vote in the next election OH THAT'S RIGHHT YOU CAN'T.

  5. Get rid of the Hobart Fire Department and you can use that money to fix roads, then use some money you saved so you can get Pete Mendez a brain because the City of Hobart does not take care of County Line Road. Porter county is responcable for both sides. Pete Mendez only needs an audience and he will made a fool of himself.
January 17, 2013 8:22 am on Hobart council asked to prioritize street repairs
  6. The death of Ted Hanson was tragic, but as the city moves forward so does costs and if they keep going at this pace fire trucks get older and the money runs out to pay the bills. This sounds like the fire department pulling at straws. How come 15 of 18 communities in Lake County have paid volunteers that work harder than Hobart and are paid 10 dollars a call.
January 17, 2013 8:09 am on Relatives of fallen Hobart firefighter plead with city officials not to reduce force
  7. Good Riddens to" Jeff White" and his do nothing side kick "Van Thompson". Between the two of them they will go down in history as the worst administration in the city of Hobart. WoW 9 months good job guys! Every HPD officer I have asked has said that you both managed to destroy the moral of Hobart PD with your head hunting. YOU BOTH SHOULD BE PROUD.
January 16, 2013 6:12 pm on Police Chief Jeff White steps down as Hobart's top cop
  8. Well I know you would not respond off duty because you probable live in Lowell and don't care what happens when you are off. I guess dedication only works when you are on the clock. Any what makes you think I am a guy?
January 12, 2013 9:46 am on Hobart officials consider privatizing city's emergency services
  9. Apparently my posting has stirred up some of the firemen or their wives, well no one has responded to the real question. Why do almost all of you live out side of Hobart, you just come here for a pay check and want me to pay more taxes so you can get a raise. Why don't you get in your car and drive home to Cedar Lake, Lowell, Munster or another community that you live in besides Hobart. If you love Fire Fighting so much go work for you community's fire department. OH THAT'S RIGHT THEY DON'T HAVE ONE. In regards to your dig about the garbage truck come on at least all of those guys live in Hobart, they are great bunch of guys that you never read about in the paper.
January 12, 2013 9:41 am on Hobart officials consider privatizing city's emergency services
  10. It is very apparent that all of these negative comments are coming from the Fire Department. I have a great idea Times newspaper, Why don't you look at how many of those 50 fire fighters live in the city of Hobart? The only people that I feel sorry for are the 2 fire fighters that live in Hobart and they are probably old timers that don't have to worry.
As if the Hobart fire fighters really care about Hobart, it is just a free pay check to them that I have to foot the bill for. Its about time some one makes a move at City Hall, open up the application process for Volunteer Fire Fighters I AM IN!
