  1. I will again preface this statement by saying I am a local police officer in Porter County.

To give you some unofficial statistics that are pretty accurate but may be off by one or two...... There has been close to 50 heroin overdose deaths in Porter County this year. Of these 50, a high percentage of them are kids in their early 20's. What shocking fact the general public doesn't know as well is for every overdose death, there are 5 near death overdoses where EMS saves their live by giving medicine to stop the heroin. Another sad trend I have seen is people committing suicide because they can not beat the heroin addiction or continue to relapse. So , if you think the war in drugs is a waste of time, it is not.

As for Marijuana..... I could careless about responsible users that smoke in their house and do their thing. It is the other 50% of the marijuana population that ruins it for the good half. The ones that are high and impaired behind the wheel of a car. Am I worried about 5gs of home grown weed that a hippee couple has? No. Am I worried about 35lbs that I find on the highway with drug cartel markings on it. Yes. So, should they legalize Marijuana. I see pros and cons. But, why stop there? If Marijuana is legalized, what's the difference between the argument for cocaine, heroin, or meth?

  2. 1. I agree with you.

    2. I agree with you. Unfortunately, guilty by association. Not all neo- nazis are bad people but if i see someone wearing a swastika. I am immediately going to assume the are scum of the earth.

    3. I am not with PPD, but I may know a bit more about this case than Joe Citizen. Infact, I know details about this that Joe Ctizen does not know. But, it is hearsay but reliable.

    5. I agree with you, but it is still legally allowed per the statue.

    6. I agree with you

If it comes off that I am attempting to lump every Gary citizen together I apologize. I was using a close to home City that has a high murder rate. I was just saying that a percentage of Gary homicides are drug related and a percentage of those are Marijuana related in some way. I was just trying to say that Marijuana is not a victim less drug that it does create crime. Just using Gary murders as an example not trying to single out its citizens.

  3. I literally admitted it in my very first post that said................

LET ME PREFACE THIS BY SAYING I AM A LOCAL POLICE OFFICER.

See my above comment to you for any further.

  4. Easy..... Move to Colorado. Or, face the Home SWAT teams in Hootyville for selling drugs.

  5. You are a clown that does not know the law. You sound moronic. You literally sound like a 10 year old in an adult conversation. Until you can figure out what the big kids are talking about you should stay at the little kids table.

  6. I agree with you 100% but with the statue enacted, an officer, acting in good faith, can seize evidentiary material to be used in further investigation for a criminal crime. I am also not sure on the ins and outs of this case but, that's where and why I see PPD taking the shirts. Not that it's right or wrong, just my view point.

  7. No to your silly assumptions. Listen, there are good cops and bad cops. I will be the first to admit and acknowledge that. Some officers become police officers because they got beat up in high school and want to be an authoritative figure in their adult life. Some people join PDs because the want to protect and serve. Some people join to arrest pieces of garbage that deserve to be arrested.

I give breaks when breaks are due, arrest people when they should go to jail. At the end of the day I can look in the mirror and know I did right and not be ashamed of anything I did.

This was a good arrest by Portage PD. All the media articles and pictures are a little overboard but to each their own.

PS... you may have the right to resist, but that justifies my use of force, and I will win.

  8. I've preface this by saying I am a local police officer.

    1. Everybody that is claiming to know the law and spout of their vast knowledge of their rights and the laws and the constitution. Stop, you sound ridiculous, especially to everyone with any actual knowledge of the above.

    2. The Invaders motorcycle gang are known in law enforcement as Meth mules for bigger national motorcycle gangs out of Chicago (not going to go into further details with the name). Anybody in the Invaders is far from an out standing citizen. They are part of a criminal organization. Giving stuffed animals to kids does not replace the fact you provided people with narcotics.

    3. Portage PD did not just guess that these people were here doing these things. Pigs or midgets you may say...... I am guessing they are a little smarter than that. I bet they had their ducks in a row and knew what they were getting themselves into before they did what they did. I am guessing one of the fine outstanding drug dealers sold drugs to an under cover drug officers in Porter County and that is how they obtained the arrest warrant and had a "no knock" warrant and were able to use a flashbang. Search the internet for no knock warrant to all the lawyers on here.

    4. Portage PD does not write the stories. There merely provide an arrest report and the wonderful staff at the Times writes the stories. I know many of times that my arrests have been misconstrued by the story writer and sound totally different from what I, the arresting officer, know I wrote in my report.

    5. All you geniuses talking about Illegal seizure...... Indiana has a thing called Criminal Gang activity. 3 or more people involved in a illegal activities constitutes this. Lets see....... 3 or more people on scene participating in illegal acts (check) Known criminal motorcycle gang (check) T-shirts for evidence (check). Whether the arrested or not are part of the Invaders or not or just associates or just bought the t-shirt, they still fit the guidelines so evidence can be seized.

    6. Marijuana is illegal. Not matter what you say or what side of the fence you are on it is ILLEGAL. So, is selling it, in fact that is a Felony. I have dealt with many narcotics arrest/ overdoses in my career. There is one thing that is 100% true. No Heroin user has ever told me that they started with Heroin. They start with Marijuana and work their way up. As cliche as it is, Marijuana is a gateway drug and until it is legal you will be arrested for it. Whether it is 1 gram to 28gs that will be a Misdemeanor An Ounce or more will be a Felony. Tell the kids that are getting shot up constantly in Gary that Marijuana is a victimless drug and just an Herb...... a percentage of murders in Gary are drug related and some of those are for little old Marijuana. Heck I'm going to guess that the unsolved murder in Portage will eventually be solved an drugs will be involved.

GOOD JOB PORTAGE PD, KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. OTHER AREA PD'S ARE BEHIND YOU 100%.

  10. Since people are too ignorant to figure our what we are trying say as police officers, i'll try and break it down a little easier for you.

There are no hard facts or evidence in this case... No you don't have to be a detective to figure out what happened. Unless you have a certified test result saying that Officer X was Operating While Intoxicated (0.8% BAC or more)or had a Operating While Intoxicated with a trace of alcohol in their system (Operating Per Se) or a medical blood draw saying the previous. LEGALLY NOTHING CAN BE DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GET OVER IT.

Whether it is right or wrong, we as police officers have discretion to arrest, file charges, or do nothing. Only you decide whether you agree or disagree. If you disagree, too bad. Talk to your local State Representative.

No body involved did anything legally wrong here per Indiana Criminal Statues. Morally, depends on the officer and their views but absolutely nothing legally wrong was done. Had I stopped Officer X, there potentially would have been a different outcome. But, even I, the great wise one, can not read the minds of the individuals involved, so nobody knows what was right or wrong. People can only assume........ And you know the saying.

As for the "sneaky" comment. It's called sarcasm. It was a open public forum presented to the public for the public. If I have to break it down more for you and explain, let me know.

Also, we tailgate you to read your License Plate, next time your out and about try reading them and see how close you have to get to clearly see them letters. Thank the State for their designs. Though 2013 plates are bigger and easier to read.

I'll leave you with this incident of indiscretion from my career, which includes well over 100 OWI arrests......... A 22 year-old mother who had a child approx. 3 months prior and who's husband was home on leave from the Marines after fighting in Iraq at the time, and was leaving in a few days. He had consumed way too much alcohol and didn't even think about getting behind the wheel. His wife however, who was very petite and small in stature, had a few drinks through out the night and thought she was OK to drive, and swore up and down she hadn't drank in over a year and had approx 4 drinks and a shot through out the entire night. Unfortunately, she was showing signs of intoxication and a PBT showed her as .09% BAC. Enough to take her into custody and submit her to a certified test. If she is over .08% she goes to jail, which she probably would have...... I used discretion and parked their car for them and she called her sister to pick them up. I HOPE THAT DOESN'T DEFEND ANYONE. Those silly boys in Blue, so mean and rude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
