I don't want to sound like I'm being unsympathetic, I am not and my heart breaks for this young man's family and friends, but you don't know what good may come from this either. As a family member of a suddenly deceased person and a basketball mom of the same, I can tell you that I have seen families who were not close become a tight knit bunch, scholarships created to help kids go to school, and people receive organs who were otherwise
I was in the St Anthony's ER that night and we saw them bring the kids in and heard that poor mother screaming and begging for this not to be happening; our hearts sank.
So stop debating about dads and step dads it's not important. What is important is to support each other at this horrible time in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Our family has lost a daughter and believe me when I say that the funeral is only the beginning of the grieving process. Hold on tight to one another and don't point fingers, you're all hurting because a precious angel had to go back to Jesus before he should have. God bless all of you and I will continue to pray for your family.
