  1. As lake county taxpayers we should be asking ..... Why was almost $7 million of infrastructure spent on a development that never was solidified out of a county TIF that was just months from expiring? That sure would have done wonders had that line item gone back to the general fund.......

  2. Comforting to see some leadership come out of this administration. Congratulations to Chief Zormier in using his position in supporting our youth.

  3. Almost $7 million in infra structure paid for by a county TIF just months before it was to go back into the general fund before it expired. That in itself should be enough for an investigation ......

  5. City Councilman John Brezik, D-5th, called the extension appropriate given the state of the economy over the last few years. "It's a solid plan," Brezik said.

This guy wouldn't know a solid plan if it hit him on the side of his head ...... as far as the economy in the last few years ..... there developing in other cities just not Hobart. Maybe the problem isn't the economy Brezik ..... look in the mirror!!!

  6. John Brezik has been a political operative in Hobart with nothing but failure in his wake. He’s manipulative and has done nothing but hurt this mayor. He was appointed by the precinct when Dave Johnson passed four terms ago and has little competition in his district. He is now chairman of the Democratic Party in Hobart and has overseen some of the lowest voter turnout in Hobart’s history. This is to his advantage because it allows him to control Hobart politics. He’s used this city as a platform for county politics. He was given a patronage job in Lake County Economic Development which gave him an opportunity to mettle with the recovery zone bonds. He was instrumental in the failing of Silverstone Crossing. He now works for the sheriff’s department. He’s behind just about everything that has gone wrong in this administration because he fills a void through lack of leadership from city hall. He’s got to go if Hobart is going to clean up this mess.

  7. You make a good point "words". Why is this administration holding the tax payers accountable for construction bonds and subsidies for low rents on a center that isn't even Hobart residents. I'm sure Mr. Brown could point out other misappropriations if he was allowed more space but editorials are very limited. THere is one thing I don't understand though ..... how is that "hilarious". It seems more pathetic than anything ......

  9. "These things were going on long before I was here," said four-term Commissioner Gerry Scheub, D-Crown Point. "We have the county police there to watch it and not once in 16 years did a county policeman tell me we had a problem with these shows, so I don't have a problem with them." This is his approach to everything and we wonder why Indi gives us no respect ..... pushin 80 years old and this is the best Lake County has to offer .... pathetic ....

  10. Fighting_Irish_Fan ….. It’s admirable and loyal to protect the city and the mayor’s office but the center of this trouble came when Evans was replaced by White to clean up the “tow truck” scandal. The mayor had taken large contributions from more than one tow truck company serving Hobart and when it was found that one might be getting more tow’s an “inside” investigation came about. Notice who that company is that’s left standing …. ALONE. We don’t have a competitive situation for tows but one company getting them all. This all came from the mayor not understanding what is considered ethical in politics. I’ve also seen “first hand” his inability to follow through on his word along with many others. It’s even in writing were he has supported and then pulled his support for political reasons. Our council currently finds, with all that is going on, that legislating dog ordinances is more important than greater issues facing the city. This comes when a lack of leadership from the top exists. The Police/Courts and Community center ran over budget and has been leased under fair market. This is a deficit taxpayers will pay as well as a construction bond layered on our taxes. Every department in the city is having challenges through the lack of leadership from the top. You need to take a closer look at what is happening. Micro management is not the problem. Lack of leadership is.
